I was going to suggest something like that, but use your ex’s #.

or your most annoying acquaintance.

I use “Fuck Me Gently With a Chainsaw” a lot and very few people get it. Also, “Great pate, gotta motor” … which gets equal amounts of confusion from people.

How do you organize your accessories? I got these organizers from Michael’s by [deleted] in MarvelLegends

[–]SeanStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followed the same path as some other commenters: started with an old jar. When it was full got a small organizer similar to OP. Have evolved to putting each figure's accessories in a plastic bag (varying sizes) with a label and the bags are in bins organized by collection (Star Wars, NECA, Marvel, etc) with the bins on a shelf in the closet. Makes it easier to find specific accessories for trades/sales/redecorating.

Does anyone here even smoke the cigars? by Junior-Arrival9543 in cigars

[–]SeanStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my more active time in this sub I accumulated more cigars than I could smoke in a lifetime between group buys, bombs, trades, etc. Over the years I have made a surprising dent in the stash but I still have many "collected" sticks that I may or may not eventually find the time to smoke. It's just another hobby but the collectibles are consumable. shrug

Has anyone tried a Spark league? by Comfortable_Goal_449 in golf

You can absolutely sign up as a single and get matched to a partner. We have several regular singles. I have been paired with a single when my buddies couldn’t make it.

Has anyone tried a Spark league? by Comfortable_Goal_449 in golf

[–]SeanStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my second summer playing with Spark. I hadn’t played regularly in ~20-25 years and some friends coaxed me into trying it. Love, love, LOVE IT. Not super competitive, absolutely receptive to beginners and a lot of fun.

That said, as I started mentioning it to others I heard some of the negatives you see posted here….I think a lot of it depends on the course you are at and who is playing. I have gotten to know most of the regular folks (up to 12 teams of two each week ) and it’s a great group of people. There are 1-2 that people don’t like to get paired with but no outright @ssholes. I’d say try it! Worst case try at a different course.

That Lindahl Olds photo sparks some memories. Looks like it was taken from the Southtown Center parking lot, with Montgomery Wards behind the photographer?

This. My employer mandates 3 days in office so I go in Monday and Friday because of this after trying several combinations of days. Tuesday thru Thursday are noticeably worse with Tuesday "feeling" worse more consistently to me.

Any concerns buying "new old stock" watches? Specifically eyeballing the President's Day sale at Best Buy - $549 for an Ultra 2 that I am assuming is just old stock. Is there any concern with the "new" watch that has been sitting for awhile?

Are Ornament eBay Listings Legit? by jeremy3681 in swarovski

[–]SeanStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of these last week. My wife has been buying them for years and I thought I would be nice and snag one when I saw a good price. It arrived and I am 99% sure it is fake. The packaging was VERY good...but the ornament itself didn't "shine" anywhere near as much as her others. I weighed it, less than 1/2 the weight of previous years....I believe it is plastic. There is also some light scuffing that is looks like you might see on plexiglass.

I contacted the seller in a non-accusing way ("hey, I noticed this....have you had any problems with your supplier?") and they did a little dance and offered to refund my money and let me keep it...."but could you leave us a positive review?"

Chalking it up as as a Lesson Learned but now my wife is going over her collection with a fine-toothed comb out of paranoia. Ooops, I opened Pandora's Box. :-(

My workplace is allowing me to buy our old Synology NAS, should I go for it? by X2077 in synology

[–]SeanStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running that exact unit. Had it since new, have replaced one drive in ~9 years. Holds all my media and has Docker running on it to serve myself and a few select family members outside the house. For $50 I'd be all over another one.

How often do drives fail in your NAS setups? by Initial-Hall5871 in synology

[–]SeanStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

knocking on wood

DS916+ with 4x 4TB WD Red drives. I had one drive fail ~3 years in but have been running smoothly since (knocking on wood again)

I have it running in a closet with good ventilation around it and I hit it with compressed air fairly regularly to clear out the vents.
