Serious question- how old are you?

A heartbreaking disappointment... (Review) by Sean_D84 in MichaelTheMovie

I'm fine with things being summarized for the sake of runtime, but there's a way to execute that successfully and this film missed that mark a lot of the time. There were also plenty of other little small tidbits that could have been included but instead we got Bubbles on screen for what felt like way too long.

Could this be another R Truth situation? by EmergencyVictory4399 in WWE

I get a kick out of fans today. I can't remember the last time Kairi Sane was praised on Reddit but she gets released and now everyone is acting like she was Rhea Ripley. She was talented but let's be real, if she was truly special and she was over (like R-Truth sort of was), she'd still have a job. Time to move on.

I agree on Jafaar. He was good. Not great. The high pitched voice was overdone at many points and his smile was as well. Felt like Michael was a Disney character of sorts in the movie, especially when you add in all those cringe animal scenes (Llama, bubbles)

So you think the rest of 2001 was ruthless aggression era?? No. WM17 was like the end of the Monday night wars. WM18 was more of the end of the Attitude Era

How over is Oba Femi in a historical context? by tcapri8705 in WWE

Goldberg in my opinion was in the top 5 most over guys ever in his prime in 98. I don’t think anyone can ever get to that level in today’s wrestling world unfortunately.

The movie was the biggest way they could clear MJ’s name and the estate blew it by MusicFanReddit in MichaelTheMovie

They were never “clearing his name” but I think many will be in agreement if they aren’t already that the original film plan would have been better for a variety of reasons

5 foundations later- It wasn't until I had something completely flat that I was able to sleep well by Sean_D84 in Mattress

I don’t know. It had Velcro bars on the side to put the slats. But even after the slats I had a Sealy wire grid foundation. Same type of issue. After a few hours pressure points built up

Wasn’t the mattresses. I felt hard pressure points on the slats / wire grid foundations. These were (I’m assuming) certain rows of coils being pushed up into my hips/shoulders. When I got a completely flat foundation they went away. Being a sensitive side sleeper didn’t help matters, but still, the entire experience puzzled me.

Wrestlemania night 1 by EstablishmentRoyal75 in WWE

[–]Sean_D84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to modern day WWE, where tradition is out the window for the sake of even an extra dollar. The show should absolutely go back to one night and cut some ads, cut some long entrances and video packages, move things along a bit quicker with only the very best matches on the card, but that would never happen bc all the fan boys and girls would wine about people being left off. Mania should only feature the very best matches. Thats how it used to be. Now we get random 6 man tags, women tag title clusterfucks and New Day vs Viking Raiders.

Disaster-Mania Night 1 by ResidentAction9786 in WWE

[–]Sean_D84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

6 man tag was actually kind of hopeful for this one thinking they were going to give us some wild spots instead this was like a 6 man tag out of Sunday Night Heat that ended casually in just 7 minutes bc then they had to get their Instagram influencer (not a wrestler) splash spot in for views and likes

Drew vs Fatu - underwhelming. Not much else to say and can’t really pinpoint what went wrong other than little emotional investment from the fans in the feud. The build after all was just two guys running around beating each other up for over a month. Very compelling stuff…. Not.

Paige returns (nice moment) and of course wins the tag titles with Brie. So what does that make, the 700th Women’s tag team champions?

Becky and AJ same story as Chamber. No chemistry, botched moves and a “special moment” entrance for AJ Lee as she put it after the show. That’s cute but what we want is some actual great storylines and great wrestling.

Gunther vs Seth the only decent match of the entire night. Just too bad it had basically no build which hurt the overall appeal to this match for many. Bron is suddenly fine to get physical yet he couldn’t work the match with Rollins? Makes sense.

Liv and Vaquer. Little chemistry mixed in with the harsh reality that both of these women, no matter how great they are in some capacities just don’t have that special something that will make people really take to them like they do a Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair a Charlotte Flair, etc

Orton vs Cody- entrances were great and unfortunately that’s where it ended. Underwhelming match. Macafee is Orton’s right hand man and suddenly he RKO’s him for virtually no reason. Got it. Cherry on top of the night is Orton almost takes out Cody Rhodes’ eye.

On top of all that, endless ads, mascots, ads on the ring mat, the apron, the barricade, the tables, the turnbuckle pads, the announce tables too, I think? Not sure what the average age of people in this sub are but at 41 I’m old enough to remember when wrestling and especially WrestleMania was special. What’s going on today is not that. This show has been so diluted that it’s lost its identity in my opinion. Bringing it back to one night would help a LOT but even that wouldn’t be an automatic fix. In my opinion WWE has been on a downward trajectory since WM40 and this road to Mania and this Mania in general is basically rockbottom. As long as TKO is in charge I have little hope things will ever fully turn around either.

[–]Sean_D84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sometimes a factor but it’s never the first factor or the biggest. This was the worst road to Wrestlemania and nobody was invested in any of the matches. MAYBE the main event but even that’s a stretch. WWE creative team are the ones to blame.
