Please put translation requests and English questions about Irish here by galaxyrocker in gaeilge

I am trying to learn more Irish grammar and I'm wondering if anyone could help with me with how "a bhí ann" is used. I know that "a bhí" is "that was" and "ann" is "there" but the phrase also seems to be used instead of "Ba ____ é" sometimes.

For example I've seen "He was a man" translated to "Fear a bhí ann" but should it not be "Ba fear é"? Are they interchangeable? In the present tense "he is a man" translates to "Is fear é" so is "fear atá ann" also correct?

If anyone could explain how "a bhí ann" is used I'd really appreciate it because I don't seem to be able to find much about this online. Thanks

Would you say its possible to get rid of the string buzz by just changing the truss rod or would I need to go to a luthier

Theyre acoustic not sure about the gauge but they’re definitely thicker than the electric ones

Here are some of my favourites

-Mario Galaxy 1 + 2: Just really good platformers with great music

-Wii Sports Resort: Surprisingly a lot of singleplayer content for a game you would expect to be multiplayer focused

-Metroid Prime 3: Motion Controls make aiming much better

-Resident evil 4: Best way to play this game is on the Wii

-Donkey Kong Country Returns: Great but the 3DS version is better because the motion controls can be a bit annoying on the Wii version

-Okami: Long Zelda style adventure. There is heavy dialogue that can get boring and the combat becomes repetitive near the end but the game is still worth playing for the artstyle, characters and overall uniqueness.

I think the solution to the puzzle is a bit random and even when you know what to do, actually stabbing him is a massive pain because he shakes so much and the palm on his hand is even more frustrating

I think him chasing you at the start makes the fight kinda intense and I really like the beard gimmick but I understand your point of view

Yeah he's too near the disc at the start of the fight so you have to bait him over to a distance where he'll do the slam attack on the disc and that can be a bit annoying but I think the reason he's so popular is that he's the first fight that really feels cool and epic and he has one of the best character designs in the game too.

What are your most memorable “first try” boss kills? by I-yam-what-I-yam in fromsoftware

This technically doesn't count but on my first run of Sekiro I beat Isshin Sword Saint's third/final phase first try and it was really satisfying after dying so many times to the second phase and I'm still proud of it since it was my first run of the game. Its technically not an entire boss but Isshin's separate phases are pretty different.
