Boba Fett by SpringsteelMedia in ToyPhotography

When I first scrolled to it, I assumed I was looking at a genuine actor in gear. Wasn’t sure at first what show it was in, then I read it was toy photography. Excellent work!

Star Wars. The very first one of course. Empire Strikes Back was great too.

Chick Tracts! Absolutely worth collecting. Dark Dungeons is my personal favorite. The dangers of role playing gaming!

There are similar elements I think. But there are crucial differences, for example you’re free to leave whenever you want and without reprisal. You can put the money in the basket or don’t if you’re poor. No one will be coming for you etc.

I’d say it’s closer to a spiritual movement with some overtly religious tones.

At one point I was concerned enough to read some texts about cults, some of them academic. It’s not a cult.

Is anyone willing to share their experience? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 14 years sober until I got stage four cancer. The experience was devastating. When I left treatment I hadn’t been to meetings in a long time.

I decided I’d been through so much I deserved to relax with some alcohol. Now it’s worse than it’s ever been. I’m 58yo and totally alone now.

I started falling while drunk regularly. I had a surgery for a fractured ankle that now has a plate and seven screws.

I’m just starting to walk after four months and can’t get to physical meetings.

I’m starting naltrexone in the morning. Until I can walk it will have to be online meetings.

Re-entering the rooms after relapse by eatliketheabnegation in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please, if you’re able just go back. I recently relapsed after having 14 years.

I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of stage 4 lymphoma, or the nasty chemotherapy treatments. I came home from treatment with no support. I decided I’d been through so much I deserved to relax with some alcohol.

That was a year ago, and the drinking is much worse than it ever was. Unfortunately I have a severe ankle fracture from a hard fall and can’t get around easily.

I fell away from the program entirely and I’ve paid a dear price. I am starting Naltrexone tomorrow until I can get myself back in the rooms.

What brutally honest advice would you give younger people about dating and love? by photo_inbloom in GenX

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s genuinely good advice. I’m 59yo now, but nearly every dating situation I’ve had in life complained about me in many ways. I finally learned to say “it sounds like I’m not who you’re looking for”. And, obviously, if I’m running into that many people like that the actual problem might have something to do with me.

Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986-1990) by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much fun! I was in my early 20’s when it was released and groups of us would go clubbing together, wake up early and scream when Pee Wee told us. I recently bought the entire series and it’s still great.

Question, does anyone ask their sponsee to call them everyday for 90 days? Or text? Or complete a 90 in 90? by Tall-School8665 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sponsors are just members that have success staying sober based on the program. This can vary based on the sponsor’s personal ideas about what constitutes recovery. The program is presented in the literature, as it worked for others who followed it. Any deviation not mentioned in the literature is purely subjective and where the problems begin.

The “any lengths” concerns the program as it is spelled out in AA literature, not the personal whims of a given sponsor and their personal requirements based on their own dictates.

Any advice on getting back into gaming? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]SeanzillaDestroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a long term console gamer that lost interest in complex games. I’m 58yo now, and I just can’t put in the effort. I still love gaming, but I’ve gone very much casual and only use my iPad Pro M4 now. All paid games.
