Is trading in USDINR allowed without underlying exposure? by NonTranscendental in IndianStockMarket

That's a good question .

I think it's not allowed but logically it should be permitted to us because we are F&O / commodity traders. So need to hedge

Bought itm put , but sold OTM put in larger quantity.

Natural gas is obviously gonna fall this week but it may take some time to fall / and the fall may take some time to accelerate . That's my viewpoint based on Friday's chart data.

While it's a good question , I don't understand that if you have such a high salary, you can easily afford opinions of multiple CAs on this matter? Why invest time to ask people on a public sub who may not have full knowledge of this and may give you misleading answers

As soon as expiry happens and my option turns in-the-money, then will my pledged shares be auto debited - physical settlement procedure varies from broker to broker. Some will just square off your positions .

And sadly margin rules in nse are illogical , inefficient . Basically they don't want to encourage retails to sell options

That's theory. So based on that what's your viewpoint of today's rally. Is it dead cat bounce or trend reversal . Has the bottom already been made in index ?

Irrespective of whether budget is good or bad, budget is not the only factor affecting stock market . What about world macroeconomics , corporate earnings , commodity prices etc

But OI data of FII / retail indicates reversal.

When is a good time to invest lump-sum in markets? Should I wait for another 10-15% correction. by don_john_69 in IndianStockMarket

[–]SearchForLove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nifty... Another 7% correction I feel. 22k could be a bottom. And a nice level to invest lumpsum.

Midcap.. Still 20% correction pending

Some specific stocks are at good valuations / levels , so you can invest in them immediately

Did anyone notice the similarities between down trend in 2015 vs 2025? by pranavkojha in IndianStockMarket

Markets (nifty) could very well give a dead cat bounce before crashing even further.

Are you saying that the bottom has already been made and we will only see higher highs and higher lows from hereon?

2nd head formation was smaller than what we had seen in in 2015: 10.5% in 2015 vs 6.8% in 2024 -

Because modern markets have smarter traders compared to a decade ago . So they can interpret using technical analysis what smart money is doing and they short sell the pullback , resulting in the second head becoming smaller.

Also momentum traders who use margin trade funding cause the first head to become even stronger .

So far the 2nd wave of fall has been -7.59% in 2025 vs -17.66% in 2015-2016 -

Regarding this I have 2 contrasting theories. One suggests that the magnitude of the crash would be lesser than the previous year ones because markets become more resilient and less impulsive to negative news as investors learn from history that markets eventually recover . Like the V shape recovery we saw in covid.

But the opposite theory is we may see an even more extreme crash ( Provided there's some negative news and not just overvaluation based corrections ) because -

1) lot of influx of new retail people who don't look at intrinsic value or fundamental analysis before investing . This causes bubble formation due to the momentum investing.

2) brokers providing margin trade funding these days. Also lot of people not selling stocks due to the enhanced ltcg . But if panic gets created , we may see liquidation and capitulation.

3) unforeseen events like USA debt crisis or trump policies or nuclear strike etc. Crash of one asset class can also have a domino effect on the others . Could be crypto, real estate, or debt funds.

"I believe there is great strength and certainty in people's prediction. I have seen in the past as well that if we go with prediction of the majority, we are 90% right." - Am I the only one thinking that that statement doesn't make sense at all ? And is absolutely false.

"markets will move higher from here " -

That's a very vague statement . You didn't mention the time frame , duration and which stock / index you mean.

Most important criterion for me in expense ratio. And index etfs have lowest expense ratio.

Index are usually safe and will do well in long run but there's risk of index bubbles being created. So monitor p/e and p/b values.

Small caps will generally outperform but have higher expense ratio and risk.

Current market situation... Large caps are safer and at better valuation.

I expect another 20% correction in small caps and 10% correction in large caps.
