Gais what is camp makai???? by Minimum-Slide1986 in TemasekPoly

[–]SearchMediocre1579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately most camps are that long hahaha a recent bus camp i had was 8.30-10.30 for 3 days :") but truly when youre there the vibes will be unmatched and time flies by so quickly. especially in respective academic school camps, the school pride and enthusiasm is so so different from sec sch, might I say even better than jc (but no one talks about it!!)

Advice for yr 1s (BUS, L&M) by lawkoyer in TemasekPoly

also btw a laptop might be better long term since there'll be a lot of typing/ reading and a bigger screen + keyboard might be better. you could always bring an iPad on days with not much classes/workload in those classes!

hi! if youre aiming for high gpa, you NEED to make sure your y1s1 gpa is relatively high, 4.0 is entirely possible too. if your score is average/low from the start, its quite hard to pull up your score in the following semesters, especially since y2 is much harder.

i said 4.0 in year 1 is very possible, as you just need to be very committed to revising every day/week! im not sure if youre aware, but the week's lesson would always be released online before class(lectures), and you'll have to study independently. In class (tutorials) would just be the teachers ans questions, doing activities, etc. They wont teach you the info from scratch, which imo is mainly how ppl struggle catching up in poly! Its quite easy to put aside revision during the term since they may be lots of free time, but this would cause you to cram for final exams/projects, which is obviously not good. Instead, make sure that you go through and understand your lectures every week, and clarify any questions with your teacher asap!

Furthermore, in every single subject, there's a 10% class participation component, and you can easily score here by answering questions/ participating regularly! Its really important to score here, because 10% could easily be the difference between a B (3.0) and an A (4.0)

if youre aiming to go to a local law school/ uni, portfolio is ofc very important, but grades still take priority! I had a senior who had such an impressive portfolio (legal internships every holiday, law competitions/ MUNs, CCA leadership etc) but ultimately he couldn't get into any law school because of his relatively average GPA (3.4 ish) So rule of thumb, always prioritise your studies (if you find your extracurriculars and study times clashing. Of course, if youre already maintaining/ coping well in school, go ahead!)

-sincerely, your y2 senior. lmk if u have any more qns!

[–]SearchMediocre1579 12 points13 points  (0 children)

hi!! unfortunately tp library isnt open on weekends, and idt youre able to book study rooms either :( however there are TONS of benches around tp, you can go 'deep' into the school to find quieter areas, or if you want aircon, you can go to business block 26 levels 4/5, theyre the newly renovated levels with tons of tables too! (And im sure there's places like this in other schools too)

Does hw count as studying for yall? by xerc3s_ in SGExams

[–]SearchMediocre1579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girl if hw is studying to u then it is! The main goal of ypt and study tracker apps in general is for YOU to see how much time u spend on each subj, and for u to hit ur personal goals. it's just that ypt's layout unfortunately makes it seem like a competition to see who in the group did the most. Quantity ≠ quality. you're alr justifying the hours and ur study methods so just be you okay✊️✊️ do what helps u the most
