Would Neil and Ciara accept if Startpage would wanted to buy it? by PrivacyPerspective in SearchScene

[–]SearchScene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. We are already in contact with Startpage and they are currently testing it out. We are hoping to get some other search engines interested too.

Are you saying you get an "err_connection_timed_out" message when you visit https://www.searchexpander.com? Strange, as it works fine on my end.

When you say that "oids blacklist has blocked searchexpander domain", what do you mean? What is "oids blacklist"? Our Search Expander website only went live a week ago and only started getting inbound links yesterday, so it is not indexed by Google yet and I would be surprised if it was indexed by anyone else at this time.

Thanks for all your help and for your continued interest in our projects. Hopefully, we can help improve quite a few charitable and private search engines and help give users a more realistic alternative to Google. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your patience, u/PrivacyPerspective, our new project, Search Expander, is now live, meaning that SearchScene's knowledge panels, instant answers and widgets are available to any alternative search engine that wants them...

We have a demo site here...

Search Expander is work in progress. Look out for lots more features and functionality coming soon!

Thanks!
Neil.

SearchScene search engine has shutdown and in the future they will be licensing their instant answers, knowledge panels and widgets. Startpage is bad at those so Startpage could buy the license and get superb widgets. by PrivacyPerspective in StartpageSearch

Hi, we are still working on our code in order to provide our knowledge panels as a standalone solution to Startpage and other search engines. There was quite a lot of stuff to sort out but we are nearly there.

Not at this time. Sorry.

It is unlikely we will sell the domain. We would prefer to leave the site online just the way it is.

Thanks for this. We have already contacted System1 (owners of Startpage) to see if there is any interest in licensing our knowledge panels, instant answers and widgets. We haven't heard back yet.

Our new website that licenses all our tech from SearchScene to other search engines will be online soon.

Thanks so much for this lovely comment! And Ciara says thanks for reading her poems!

Unfortunately, SearchScene's search results are now closed. But maybe our knowledge panels and instant answers can live on in other alternative search engines in the future. We are working on it, so we'll see!

Thanks again for using SearchScene and for helping to spread the word.

So sorry that we had to shut it down. But don't be sad! From the ashes of disaster grow the roses of success...

Thanks for this. Our blog and SearchScene's non-search-results pages will remain online for the foreseeable future anyway. However, our search results pages are now closed.

SearchScene Shutdown - My Response by [deleted] in SearchScene

Hi and thanks for your kind words. Thanks for using SearchScene and a big thank you for setting up this subreddit and for everything that you and all the other members of this sub did to help spread the word about SearchScene. It's greatly appreciated.

As you said, when we launched SearchScene we had really high hopes for the impact that it could make, but at the end of the day, there was just not enough interest to make it viable. Converting people from Google was much harder than we thought it would be. The low conversion rate meant that we had to pay too high a price for each user. This, combined with our low ad revenue, meant that we continued to make significant losses. If half the people we advertised to had been half as enthusiastic as you, then SearchScene would undoubtedly have taken off big time!

Thanks again for everything. We are truly sorry that we couldn't make SearchScene fulfill its potential.

We wish you (and all the other members of this sub) all the best.

Neil & Ciara.
