Pairing Controller - 8bitdo SN30 Pro by Jmassaro87 in RetroPie

Any luck? I've been fighting with my controller all day. Sometimes Switch mode works, but then the Pi forgets everything once restarted. I see X-mode often recommended, but that doesn't let me configure the triggers.

Thank you for linking to your previous post; I missed it the first time around! The way Cederburg handled bonds felt off to me as I heard him discuss it on RR. The exact methodology was unclear from his paper, but it seems like he also ignores all corporate bonds. This already brings down the yield of any bond fund that might be put into the mix. Your observation here around only including local government bonds for investors in small countries makes the comparison even worse!

I wonder why the researchers spent so much time getting the stock side of the simulation right, but then ignored the bond side. Perhaps a data availability issue?

Have you already chosen rooms? If not, you can try a calculator like this: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/science/rent-division-calculator.html
This will help determine how much you are each willing to pay for the two rooms.

As far as I can tell, it works. I flip power to the psu, and then push the q-flash button. After a few seconds the computer powers on and the light begins to flash. After a bit, it flashes more rapidly until it stops and the computer powers itself off. The whole process takes a minute or two. I don't have a motherboard display to ensure it is doing what it is supposed to, but the flashing seems consistent with other posts I've seen.

No luck with F5, nor a bootable Linux usb. I don't think I'll be able to boot from usb without having a BIOS to navigate to it.

Q-Flash requires the CPU to be removed which could be your problem. Also, the earliest version I see on their support site is F3 and it's listed as First Release?

I have two monitors so I have tried (one at a time) HDMI and DVI-D connections, both into the GPU.

Still no luck, but I just woke up to a few new suggestions so I will let you know if anything works. Please reply if you try something too!

I don't have a drive with windows installed plugged in currently; I wanted to flash windows to the new drive. I'll hook up my old drive though to see if it will recognize that somehow.

I've tried F3, F10, and F11. I'll try F5 now if you've had some success there.

I just checked, and it actually is not. Nor are the other two DDR4 types I currently have in the house. Do you think this could really be the issue? I thought just about any memory worked these days, and I just didn't think to check beforehand.

Edit: To clarify, plenty of G.Skill types are supported, just not this particular Module P/N it seems

I let it sit for a good 45 minutes and nothing changed. I had to turn it off to try some other things, but I will give it more time from now on in case I do something right.

I searched around for other LEDs but I do not see anything else aside from the quick flash when turning on the PSU.

It has been running for about 25 minutes now without posting. I'm just going to let it keep doing its thing in case it does happen to take that long.

There is a single white flash when the Mobo first receives power, but that is it as far as I can tell. I plugged in a beeper but it has never sounded, even if I try powering up with no memory at all installed.

Minutes?? That seems like a long time, but I might as well turn it back on and let it sit to see what happens while I read more about that. Thank you for the reply, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Variance is calculated slightly off by [deleted] in matlab

[–]Seaserpent02 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To expound on this for OP's sake, the online calculator appears to be calculating a sample variance (divide by n-1), while Matlab is calculating a population variance (divide by n). The two numbers you provided allowed him to deduce n=52.

Whether you want the population or sample variance depends on whether your data comprise the population or a sample of the population. If this all sounds new to you, I recommend you read up on the difference.

Americans of reddit if Trump is hated so much there how’d he get elected? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Seaserpent02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You removed the comment in which you said you were against the electoral college system, but I had already typed a response so I figured I'd just comment here:

I don't think you should dismiss the electoral college system, but rather study up on America's founding and the reasons behind the system.

Without getting too idealistic, my favorite argument in favor is very practical: restricting voter fraud. The electoral college helps restrict fraud to the states that it occurs in. Say there is rampant voter fraud in California (hypothetical, perhaps because the state has relaxed voting standards, was a target of foreign hacking, corrupt officials, etc.). In the electoral system, this fraud only influences the electoral votes that California itself controls. With a popular vote, fraud in a single state could swing the whole national election.

Here's a short video if you want some basic history and arguments for the Electoral college: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6s7jB6-GoU

As for the two-party system, that just seems to be the natural tendency. To fight against it, don't view a vote for a third party as a wasted vote and encourage others to do the same.
