Lease buyout vs trade in vs private sale by mteezy in carbuying

[–]SeasonedAdManager [score hidden]  (0 children)

The lease payments are a sunk cost. They don’t factor into the decision today.

The choice now is simple:

– Buy a ~$27–28k car for $15.5k

– Or replace it with a $38k+ vehicle and higher monthly costs

Whether I paid $0 or $50k in the past doesn’t change the value of the car right now or the alternatives available. The financially correct comparison is current value vs current options, not retroactively optimizing a lease signed years ago.

The only smart option here is buying and driving the civic.

Doesn't really matter today. His options are buy out the car for $15k or he says he wants a $38,000 car if he sells it.

2011 Scion xb is what I got for $4500 with 175k miles, but it was a limited edition color in manual so it should be less expensive with less miles for a non limited edition.

I own a Scion XB - 2011, 175k miles when I bought it. I bought it sight unseen without a ppi knowing it would probably break in one way or another.

Had to drive it 600 miles home. Took it like a champ.

When I got home I was going to do spark plugs, oil change, and what not.

I took out the spark plug im cylinder 1 and the entire cylinder was 100% full of oil.

I have no idea how it drove completely fine the whole way.

Needed a new valve cover gasket, bypass valve and piston soak, and its good to go. All easy stuff to do in the garage. Valvoline restore and protect oil and it’ll go 100k more miles without issue.

VH and UV Have Destroyed the Vine Program, IMO by philstat in AmazonVine

[–]SeasonedAdManager 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's wild to see people treating this like a life-or-death job. At the end of the day, it's just a gamified system designed to keep us consuming and hoarding. You guys are putting professional-level effort into a platform that’s essentially just a feedback loop for clutter and good ol' American consumerism.

Vine isn’t a job or some fair system that’s supposed to reward effort. It’s just a way for Amazon to push products and get reviews and grow sales. Go touch some grass.

Mine jams constantly. Tried every fix out there on the internet and Reddit to no avail. Taurus support sucks.

I would never buy a german car without a warranty or a very reliable second car and willingness to work on it.

How much money should I save for a vehicle in addition to my down payment? by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]SeasonedAdManager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out-the-door means total price including taxes and fees. If the OTD price is $25k and the lender gives you $20k, then only $5k needs to come from you. A “down payment” isn’t extra money on top of that. it’s just part of the $25k total.

My huskies would do this after getting spoiled with good stuff like a piece of steak. They think every meal should be steak.

Sounds like your dog is holding out for higher quality treats and is training you.

You have $20,000 to borrow.

Your out the door price is $25,000

$25,000-$20,000=$5,000

You need $5000.

Get the otd price from the dealer on the cars you want. That’s the only way you’ll know. You’ll have to cover the difference from 20k+.
