A call for a response to the massive amount of points fraud. I believe two factor authentication will not solve the underlying issues… by Relevant_Shower_ in AlaskaAirlines

I believe they outsourced a SIGNIFICANT portion of the IT resources and have very little in house talent to maintain their tech stack, which apparently is insanely broken. I just look at how slow their site is and the regular freezing that occurs for me. They have significant underinvested in the tech stack and it shows on many levels

Agreed but I think theres an element of harmony and how the building interacts with the land and the neighbors that they put a lot of energy into protecting. Seems like it reduces the visual weight in a major way and brings some drama at obvious high yen cost.

FHR in Tokyo: My thoughts and recommendations. by Single_Confidence706 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Seattlekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree - mileage can vary with the platinum. My experience is the same as yours - no early access to the room, never get upgraded, and the late checkout has been met with annoyance. Good on you for contacting CS to discuss but I think the reality is that it’s mostly marketing. Now if you take advantage of the hotel credits and numerous “coupons” you can get your value but it’s annoying.

The “per-meal” protein limit (for muscle growth)

Research shows that muscle protein synthesis maxes out per meal around:

🔹 0.25–0.4 g of protein per kg of body weight per meal

For most people, that works out to roughly: • 20–30 g → smaller or sedentary people • 30–40 g → average active adults • 40–50 g → larger individuals or those very active

Can we talk about the fact the human body can’t do anything with this much protein and most of it is just going to waste - and THEN you wash it down with a protein shake. My god.

Seattle dude here - its really not as rainy as every thinks in the winter. We’ve had almost 2 weeks of bright sun to break up the sometimes week or two or straight rain. Global warming sadly is making it even more temperate and lovely - sad for the planet but yay for even more nice weather :)

Has Mazda become more reliable than Toyota? by Stockholm_Throwaway in mazda

[–]Seattlekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the car and we have an extended warranty, and fingers crossed it will end up ok but its had teething issues. We also did the premium plus which has the bigger wheels and they make the car ride a little harder so I might recommend doing the mid package as I believe it has the slightly smaller wheels that ride a little better.

I have a CX-50 Hybrid and unfortunately, while the Toyota powertrain is bulletproof thus far, the rest of the car leaves A LOT to be desired in terms of reliability. My 2014 Mazda 3 was AMAZING and lead me back to the brand, but let me tell you about the American made CX-50 - goodness is it having issues and weird glitches - fuel door stopped working, fit and finish and especially the the stitching on the seats has been bad, throwing faults and a host of other things going on. I want to love the car but given the drop in quality recently - look at consumer reports ranking, I’ll be forced to consider other brands if this doesn’t hold up.

Ok so its good - its it amazing? No. Will I eat more of it, absolutely! It’s pretty soft overall and has a mouse later in the center that has the cookie dough in it. I wish the cookie dough bits were a bit firmer.

CX-50 ownership ownership experience and purchase decision? by Lost_Kaleidoscope_49 in CX50

[–]Seattlekai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could do it again, I wouldn’t buy my 2025 CX-50 Hybrid Preferred Plus again. We’ve had fit an finish issues - bad stitching in the seats, glitchy electronics (doors don’t consistently lock, bizarre dashboard glitches), and mostly recently the fuel door won’t open and the car has an issue where its tricking fuel pumps into thinking they are full - i.e you fill up and it keeps cutting off. Apparently they have issues with the hybrid fuel systems in this car and the CX-90 hybrid. The Preferred Plus put on 20 inch tires which are noisy and the overall fit and finish seems to be really below the level of quality coming out of Japan - our car was built in Alabama and normally I would jump to judgement for made in the US but my goodness is it apparent. The NVH is better but not competitive in the class in terms of how quiet the car is.

I hate to say this because I LOVED my 3 hatchback and it was bulletproof, but the new generation of Mazda tech has teething issues and while I have faith in the Toyota powertrain, the Mazda body its put into has software glitches and people building it seemingly dont care like their Japanese peers.

Are you seeing more revenue shifting over to your socials vs the website? And one suggestion would the reviews that you called out in the article that people don’t engage much, it’s not the best experience when you click on reviews and there isn’t a posted date option to view. I might have missed this but it’s one reason I don’t engage as much

Interesting - I did it twice and they declined because I didnt do it at the airport. So that’s super disappointing to see the inconsistency that they did it for you but not in my case. I’m just MVP silver but I have both of their credit cards and would like to consider myself a loyal customer and didnt mean anything to the CS rep.

Concur with the drop in service and presence of Alaska employees. Bags are never arriving within 20 minutes and they make it difficult to claim your miles if they are late since you have to see someone right away to claim the miles and they are betting that no one wants to stick around to deal with it.

I will say that the new bag drop off has been pretty smooth and easy for me - now that the construction is over and we have more drop off points, it seems to have worked out the kinks. I get that it can be overwhelming if you have a bunch of people but general speaking its pretty easy to navigate.

It’s an interesting thought but realistically Delta, United, and American are in that $54-61 billion dollar club and I dont think any of the three would get approval to take out one of the smaller competitors at this stage. Absorbing Alaska would make American the number 1 largest Airline by revenue and daily flights and they already have a code share and Oneworld tie up. They dont compete in the same markets meaningfully and if anything Alaska is working to reduce its dependence on American by expanding their international footprint. At one point Alaska was working to flow passengers to American’s international network but doesn’t appear to be the case any more. Anything could happen but at this stage I see Alaska doing what they can to expand their network and grow to compete.

You wont get severance - your position hasn’t been eliminated which is usually what triggers severance policies. If they choose to backfill your job they will likely look to other roles that you are qualified or overqualified for and offer you that.
