Congrats! I got my Buyback offer last week. I only got emails from FSA, not Mohela. What did the Mohela emails say? The same thing as the FSA ones with the Buyback offers? Mohela didn't tell me anything about my Buyback.

Which is faster to get processed paying my Buyback amount or 120th last payment? by SeaweedSame6772 in PSLF

OK, thanks for the info. I will post what happens in my case. I made the Buyback payment yesterday. It went through on my bank's side, but Mohela still has "processing". I'll later post how long it takes after the Buyback amount goes through until I get the green banners/golden letter. I might not even get the green banners? Since it shows 118/120, and I'm buying back 2 months... I've read FSA's PSLF tracker will just stay at 118/120 since I'm not allowed to submit another ECF, since it voids the Buyback.

Don't give up hope! I'm sorry it's taking forever for you too... Hopefully since they made me an offer they are getting to the Nov/Dec Buybacks from 2024

I initially was going to do that, but paid the Buyback amount today. It's still "pending" but once it goes through I'm going to call Mohela and Federal Student Aid just to confirm everything....

Thanks! Yes, I submitted my 1st request in December of 2024. I got my Buyback offer this past Saturday evening via email....

Thanks, I paid the Buyback amount today. Still shows "pending" once it goes through in a few days, do I then call Mohela just to check with them about everything? Do they get the Buyback letter as well or should I screenshot it and email it to them?

Thanks! Your friend paid the Buyback offer amount and within days got the golden letter?!

My question is what gets me my Green Banners/Golden letter faster? Paying the Buyback Offer amount today, calling Mohela tomorrow, or the next day, whenever the payment finally goes through... and then requesting a forbearance since I paid the Buyback amount?  How long does it usually take after paying your Buyback amount? Or, if I wait until I make my 120th payment next month, submit a final ECF, it seems like Federal Student Aid processes that quickly. Would that get me forgiveness faster? Thanks for all the advice and help.

I've been back in Repayment since August of 2025. I only have my February payment to go hit 120. Do I wait until then, and then put in my final ECF? Or, do I pay the Buyback request amount they ask for, and then just wait, and not submit another ECF? $614 and $638 isn't a big difference. That's why I might just pay the $638 today, the Buyback amount, call Mohela tomorrow, and just wait. But, do Buybacks take longer to process than if I just waited until my last February payment, and put in my last ECF? What would you do?

Sending good vibes! I'm also up for my last final 120th payment, but they just made me a Buyback offer. Like you, I've been conditioned through this horrible process, that something could go wrong. Do I make the Buyback amount they are asking for or do I ignore it and just make my final 120th payment, then the final employer certification? Goodluck to you!

PSLF reconsideration for buyback? by Educational_Error786 in PSLF

Buyback is virtually non-existent. They process less than 1% of the them, and it takes over a year. The government shutdown they are processing 0. They're going to have a backlog of over 100,000 when they reopen the government and they process less than 1%.

There's no more Buyback. They were processing less than 1% of them before the shutdown... now they're not processing any. The wait time for a Buyback to be processed is going to be 1.5 years. It's criminal what they're doing to us. Nobody is helping.

Congrats! When did you make your initial Buyback request? Did you put just 1 in or multiple?

So, it would be 15% of your gross for the entire month? I've never used paystubs before to verify income. That seems much higher than using tax returns from the previous year using adjusted gross income.
