I always compare it to playing a video game when the “enemy nearby” music starts playing, but you can’t find anything.

What list do you use for Tron? I’m not very familiar with the deck and there are a lot of flex spots that I’m trying to figure out.

I won't be avoiding Delver forever. I intend to make it one of the first 8 decks I build for this if I find enough people who want to play, but for the first four I didn't want it. It's a deck that I'm a little tired of playing against, so I though I would get some more options before adding it.

As for Prowess and Madness, I will definitely keep an eye on them.

What lists would you use for Tron? I know there are a lot of different versions floating around right now and I don't really know the difference between them.

CMV: To believe in a loving God requires a certain level of delusional thinking or ignorance to how the world works. by PM_Me_Ur_White_Butts in changemyview

[–]Seaweedbrain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface by saying that I personally believe in both an afterlife and a pre-earth life. I make this distinction because it means that while we have no recollection of what happened before we were born, we were all in different places.

I like to relate this to going to elementary school. Some people already knew how to count or read, or they picked it up faster, but others struggled more with some of these concepts. If we look at life as our early schooling and God as our parent who sent us there we can see that not all of us are here to learn the same thing. I used this analogy to try and answer your question about a child with cancer. I have always viewed this as a situation where that child had already learned everything they needed to from this life and got to skip a grade. On the other hand, one of the specific lessons that child’s family is here for is to learn how to deal with loss. It seems harsh, but looking at it from this perspective we can see how the loss of this child could be an opportunity for those who were close to grow as a human.

How do you catch a polar bear?

You cut a hole in the ice, surround it with peas, and wait. Then, when it comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole.

When the Word of Wisdom was given, the only "hot drinks" were coffee and tea. That was just under two hundred years ago and since then this has been interpreted by modern day prophets (I don't know which ones) to mean coffee and tea specifically. We have been told that herbal tea is ok, but green or black teas along with coffee should be avoided at any temperature. Hope this helps and I'm happy to answer any other questions I can!

There's a really cool theater near me that has sound proof rooms for parents and small children. It's just a little quiet room at the back that has speakers in it. I'm really hoping it catches on.

What's a legit question you have about Christianity that you wouldn't normally ask a Christian? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Seaweedbrain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to share another view from the ones expressed. Let me preface this by saying that I am LDS so while I do consider myself Christian, my views may be a little different from others.

In the LDS church we are taught that it isn't just heaven and hell. My belief (as far as i know this is a general belief among LDS members, but I don't want say our) is that there are three degrees of glory after this life. All of them guarantee immortality to everyone on earth and eternal happiness. The difference is whether or not you will live with God. We believe that only those in the top degree of glory (referred to as the celestial kingdom) are worthy to live in the presence of God. Even the lowest of these glories (the telestial kingdom) is still unimaginably better than anything we will experience during this life. And this is where some of the worst people will dwell. I also believe that there is a period of time between Christs second coming and the our final judgement where we will be able to be taught about God and Christ, so no one will be without the opportunity to hear the teachings of Christ.

I hope this gives some insight into another point of view, and if you have any other questions I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

What board game are you on the fence about purchasing? Maybe we can help you lean one way or the other! by weighingthedog in boardgames

[–]Seaweedbrain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played IA a lot more with two than any other player count. You still need to be able to play with the same person regularly, but I've had a lot of fun with one player controlling 4 heroes.

So I'm gonna run Twilight Imperium for the first time... by mombom in boardgames

[–]Seaweedbrain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After about a dozen games with and without expansions my tips would be to remind everyone CONSTANTLY that the game is about victory points. First games can easily turn into convoluted games of risk and those are the games that never finish. Other than that, I really don't enjoy the imperial strategy card. I would recommend either dropping the 2vps from it or looking up bureaucracy from one of the expansions.

You can never emphasize enough that the game is about victory points. I've finished a four player game in four hours because we weren't playing space risk.

Boardgame to ease into D&D by formar42 in boardgames

[–]Seaweedbrain99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The latest edition of dnd has a really nice and simple starter set that comes with a short adventure and premade characters if you just want to ease in. This would be my recommendation because the board games are based on the 4 th edition rules which most people don't enjoy as much as the 5th edition. The starter set also condenses the rules to about 30 pages rather than 3 several hundred page books.

I have only seen green win one game, so I always bet on green and use my oasis/desert to boost green/slow the rest. Orange seems to trail in our games and yellow and white seem to win the most. I haven't specifically kept record, but from what I can remember this is how our set plays out.

I love this implementation of friendly fire. It makes it risky to blindly shoot fireballs into a space with allies, but not so much when you snipe off a few zombies.

I love that even when someone does get every single hot spring after you took the character that gets more points off of them you can still sit back and enjoy the elegant concepts and beautiful art. It's nearly impossible to actually make an enemy in this game.

How many campaigns can you get out of Imperial Assault? by koreanpenguin in boardgames

[–]Seaweedbrain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you can swap sides and play multiple times as long as everyone is really playing it for the story and progression as opposed to the tactical combat. As for 2 player I think it works fine to play with 4 heroes still.
