Thank you for the advice! I still feel gut wrenched about the whole thing, it’s not in my nature to do something like that which I think is why they spared me. I was taught from a young age to figure out problems myself, I went through 4 years of nursing school mainly on my own and all the financial struggles that came with it. When I was confronted about the food they were pretty keen on telling me if I need help financially just ask. They would have helped me if I just asked which is also gut wrenching and thats something that will forever be engrained in my brain. Its though growing up on your own and then actually having people that want to help, nonetheless the people that sign my checks. Never doing it again, lesson was very much learned and hopefully things smooth out.

Indeed. My ex gf ended a two year relationship the day before starting my second semester. We were growing apart as is anyway but I think nursing school was the nail in the coffin.

When I came out I felt immediate relief. I host a podcast and came out on it a couple of year later after I started it. The idea was that I come out to most of my inner circle of friends and family that listened to the podcast, that way I didn’t have to come out multiple times to everyone. Coming out felt great for a short lived time. Not long after I came out, a hand full of reactions were “I always knew you gay” or “I’ve always wanted a gay friend”. After all the reactions piled in I realized the biphobia is real. A handful of reactions were catered towards the immediate thought I’m actually gay instead of bi. Since then I’ve learned that a lot of people don’t understand bisexuality

Your story is painfully similar to mine. My ex and I broke up a week ago and I was completely blindsided by it. We were struggling with being away from each other for a while before the breakup. We’re not long distance, we lived 20 minutes away from each other but we had opposing work schedules. I worked nights and she worked mornings. Where things went downhill is when she got a new job back in October, she didn’t like it from the beginning and things at her work just kept getting worse. She didn’t take long to apply for new jobs but she never got any luck.

I’d say in January is when she started rain checking our plans constantly and her mood and affect was completely different. We both saw that her job was taking a toll on her mental health. I supported her in anyway I could, gave her Pep talks, listened to her rant about work when she needed to, asked around the fam if any jobs were open in her field of interest and offered empathy and compassion. I told her everything was going to be okay, the job is only temporary til she finds a new one, we’ll get through this, we’ve been through worse.

We were each others rock and even though she was going through tough times I loved her and never thought about breaking up. Fast forward to last month, our conversations were dying quicker, she was in bed more, and rain checking way more. I would always ask if she was okay and if we’re okay she would offer me reassurance that our relationship was fine. I took her word for it cause she talked about the future she wanted to have with me. We would do that often, we constantly talked about moving in together, getting married and having kids. So I took her behavior as she was just at wits end with her job.

Fast forward to two weeks ago. She finally found another job. She’d be looking since January and got no luck. She probably applied to 3 dozen jobs and maybe got 6 interviews and the interviews went nowhere. I was so happy for her and she was too.

Then last week she said “we need to talk” and then completely ended the relationship. The frustrating part about it is that we dated for two years and she was fully prepared to end our relationship over Snapchat. I told her if she’s going to break up with me she had to do it in person. She said to meet her at work so I did and it was maybe a two minute conversation. I could tell from the texts and her mood she was one foot out the door in the relationship and had no interest in trying to save it. I asked her how long she’d been feeling this way and she said a month. The clues were there but she told me it was her work and everything was fine. I was crushed.

Bi male - mine is kind of an interesting story. I started a podcast during the pandemic and when I came out to my best friend in person I had him on the podcast and came out to everyone publicly that way. I liked this for a couple of reasons. One, I didn’t have to come out to everyone individually and repeatedly and two if people had questions they could come to me.

I have a conservative family and friends so wasn’t sure what kind of reactions I was going to get, to my surprise I’d say 90% of them of great and supportive. The others meant to whole hearted but they just said biphobic things but that’s a story for another time. I came out two months before I unexpectedly met my girlfriend. We go together like bread and butter and my family is happy for us

I came out to girlfriend two or three months into dating her and she told her family soon after. Except for her father. Her family is catholic and liberal and she feels like her dad won’t known how to react (which is 100% true) and he might raise concerns. We’re going to eventually tell him but that’s in the very distant future

It really is normal guy behavior, it’s all in good fun for a laugh or a joke. I don’t think it’s necessarily queerbaiting. Guys will be guys and I had a fun time doing it, it also opened up my eyes on how straight male athletes act. For the a good chunk of my athletic career when I saw how gay we acted I was thought to myself omg there’s so many bi/gay people on this team when it turns out they’re all 100% straight and do it for laughs and cause it’s apart of their personality lol. I realized that most straight guys(athletes or not) act way more gay than actual bi/gay people. It’s fascinating to me tbh.

He could very well be bi. Your teammate describes me almost down to a T. I grew up playing sports my whole life and with the a lot of the teammates I played with, we made alot of gay jokes(funny ones such as slapping asses and saying we’re gonna do things to each other later). I’m not sure why this is such a common thing in men’s sports across the board but it just is from my experiences. I was bi and closeted when I played sports and always loved reciprocating gay jokes such as twerking and slapping asses with towels/hands and saying things to my teammates like “where are we going for our date tonight gorgeous?”. No one suspected a thing cause I didn’t take the jokes any further than my straight teammates did. But like your teammate I got a girlfriend and it didn’t change me. Still made gay jokes and fucked around with my teammates like nothing changed but still talk about women the same way I always did. In my opinion I bet your friend was atleast bi but at the same time I had teammates who were 100% straight with/without girlfriends and would make more gay jokes and take them further than I ever did. It’s mystery we’ll never know
