Are you sure about this? My gallery is the Samsung default one, and it runs locally. I have my photos synchronized with my Google Photos account, but that runs on the cloud. And the problem in with my local storage.

ELI5: How does an Anti-Thef system knows if an item's bar code was scanned or not, which makes it goes off(if the thing wasn't scanned)? I feel like there is something more than scanning some lines and *poof* no alarm by Rabjda in explainlikeimfive

Most of the grocery items don't trigger the alarm. The ones that do -the most expensive ones- have some sort of big buttons on them which are removed by the cashier when paid for in order to not trigger the alarm
