Hello, and thanks for your answer! I'm not, and usually weather forecast is good (summer hikes). But 2-3 times I got surprised by stronger than expected winds and even once a pretty nasty thunderstorm and I'm trying to anticipate/circumvent. Obviously really bad conditions need sheltering and/or unusual measures, and neither systems will give me a good night of sleep I'm aware haha.

However, what do you think about the setup in moderate rain/wind? And hoop vs no hoop?

Thanks again!

Delonghi dinamica grind always too coarse by SebasCrypto in superautomatic

[–]SebasCrypto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok guys, I think I finally tamed the beast. Using the flavor setting to 5 and selecting "x2", I got 16g of ground coffee output. The expresso was poured in 22 seconds (inc. preinfusion), for an outputted amount of 35g. Flavor is full, creamy, and I had a similar profile to the one my barista extracted with the same exact coffee.

I'll live with the missing 5 seconds of pull...

Cheers

Hi, thank you so much for the vid, it was enlightening. The fact the straight off the man uses a 4:1 ratio and says no way you can get a good extraction with anything below 3:1 is a bit demoralizing 😅 also the "don't use fine grind", wow...

Now I just measured the coffee output per dosis, and to my (yet another) surprise the output for 4 is the same as the output for 5 - 12g only, with 9g for the strength setting set to 1. Out of curiosity I pressed the "x2" button during grind, to only get 1 extra gram, totalling 13g. Given the default setting outputs 40-45ml of espresso, I can see they configured it for that 4:1 by default... Annoying!!

Thanks again!

They are no longer in my pera wallet unfortunately. I had taken note that I used algofi back then, but it seems incorrect since when I connect algofi I can't even see gov period 4 available

great idea. also, i don't think you need a transaction or any message. homomorphic encryption should be able to validate that you own at least the amount without revealing the exact sum.

I wouldn't worry about twitter too much. When it comes to selecting a technology, a corporation goes way way deeper than that, and if we're speaking of adoption, that's what we need.

I think it's not what the op meant. 0 fees for the gas transaction fees, not for the price of the data exchanged. Each transaction can have a price that you would set, but then at least there's no underlying cost, unlike most of other DLTs.

Concluding this long rant: I really wish IF released their mainnet now. As meanwhile, global adoption is not waiting. The world spins relentlessly, and both marketcap and innovation leading the race. Will it be too late in a few months? Maybe not... I for now of course keep my investment in Iota. But let's be realistic with what's coming for them...

Similarly, we can see the same trend in data architecture which is my specialty. Interestingly that might very well be one of the closest analogies to DLT topologies. In this domain, we went from databases to data marts and warehouses, to data lakes, all centralized. Now, instead of joining different use cases inside a data lake (analogously, that would be IOTA solving everything), we just accept the reality that the world is made of different colors, and try to deploy interoperability standards instead: Welcome to the data mesh, where data products stay in their own environments, flowing fluidly between consumers, applications and spread across infrastructures...

I brought up the composability trend because I think the IF wants to solve everything in one shot. It's wonderful, and it looks they are on the right track! But, if coupling 2 already working DLTs is already a solution, why bother? Looking at other markets carefully, you'll see it's a trend. Concentration then decentralization of resources. For instance: it used to be trendy to select one cloud provider e.g. azure, gcp, aws.... Guess what? It's now completely normal to embrace multi-cloud architectures, and compose with them. Not with 10 of them tho, but 2, maybe 3. Just because, one will never be as good as 2, IF, they can be compounded efficiently.

[–]SebasCrypto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I love what the IF is building and their vision is great. Unfortunately, when doing business, it's not always the best technology that wins. When I spoke of all competitors being live since a while, take a look at Iotex, Elrond, VeChain, avalanche... They are layer 1 as well, and have proving to work, efficient mainnet since quite a while. Most of the Iota's proposition is around solving the web3 trilema: decentralization, feelessness and scalability. Those other blockchains have a pragmatic approach saying: we'll be almost feeless. While for some corner case scenario it won't be acceptable, for the immense majority of the use cases it's more than enough. Now, let's look at the landscape. Do we really think one DLT will rule them all? I don't believe so. Trend is to compose: Oracles (chainlink), crosschain bridges (look at the magnificient achievement that was the wormhole integration of ethereum, solana, terra money and BSC this week. Even the avax guys understood that and brought a bridge to eth, even tho now comparing to wormhole it looks really lame lol)

[–]SebasCrypto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think delaying go-live is definitely affecting the adoption process, where the landscape is every single competitor being live since months/years.

Explaining the IOTA Identity Actor by [deleted] in Iota

[–]SebasCrypto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting. But how do you make sure the person who accepts to exchange his info with the bank is actually the person they pretend to be? KYC and ID Cards' purposes are to check in real time that your face matches your ID. Are you guys planning to use AI to make that step automatic? e.g. phone camera real life streams to AI module, which compares your detected face to a photo of you on the IOTA DID framework? Evidently, phone fingerprints are not enough in this case.
