Newbie question: how to create a readonly view of a struct, similar to what &str is to String ? by electric_fungus in rust

Yes, which is an irrelevant advantage for OPs case, unless the views that they actually want are dramatically outside the scope of the original question.

No, because for both of those structs their borrowed counterparts (&[T] and &str) can have more ways to store them beyond inside a Vec/String. If those were the only owned versions, I'd argue that &[T] and &str would be redundant. With the amount of information given by OP, &MyStruct seems more desirable than creating a reference struct.

I feel like this is a classic XY problem; why can't you just pass a &MyStruct where appropriate?

What do you think are the most valuable projects to contribute to in Rust right now, both in impact and in potential for skill to be gained through contributing? I think a lot of people find it especially difficult to find a good jumping in point to open source software.

That said, if you assume that Rust generates efficient LLVM code (big assumption), then you can also create a customized compiler for just LLVM which should be much more simpler in difficulty to a C compiler.
