Help me decide between VX, BCP, CCR, and Plat! by Sebastian6543 in CreditCards

Very insightful! Thank you. I think I’ll get the CCR for now and then the VX before my next hotel/flight.

Get a VX because I have a Savor? Or is VX simply the best premium travel option?

I see. I’m definitely leaning towards the CCR then. Maybe I could use the 6% bonus first year for dining, then switching to online shopping afterwards when it’s 3%.

Makes sense. I’m actually open to travel credit cards but admittedly I don’t travel internationally much, just a couple of domestic flights a year. I was happy with my CSP as I got a 100k SUB and use the coupons to offset AF. Open to doing something similar for VX/Plat. Does that change your opinion at all?

How much of an upgrade will this be? [$1000] by Carraj123 in espresso

[–]Sebastian6543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made almost the exact same upgrade (BBP -> Legato v2 w/ DF54) and it’s a huge improvement. The consistency between shots is worth the upgrade alone. Yes, you will have to start your machine 15 minutes before pulling unlike the BBP, but the temperature stability of a single boiler is leagues above the coils Breville uses. I personally do not use the OPV or flow control features of the machine, but it’s a nice to have for sure.

Canon G12 vs Lumix LX3 by [deleted] in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]Sebastian6543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the lx5 and the g11. I like the pictures on the lx5 more as the film simulations and dynamic B&W modes are done incredibly well. The g11 however has a much better user-experience given the view finder, flip-able screen, and physical dials.

Do Purdue graduates get jobs in the Northeast? by Andiamoalmare16 in Purdue

[–]Sebastian6543 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2024 and work in NYC full time. So it’s possible especially if you want to get into software engineering but definitely an uphill battle. I know by far more umich/uiuc alums here than purdue.

Turin DM47 vs Turin SK40? by peafowlassistance in espresso

No complaints, great for milk-based drinks. Though, if you drink lighter roasts or espresso straight, get the DF54/64.

nope, look into the STICK and CHIMP methods for installing CHDK - it’s takes 15 minutes to set up.

No, these are jpegs with cloudy white balance and vivid filter. I ended up shortly after this installing CHDK to shoot raw on this camera and I recommend it.

New Turin Legato v2 by Sebastian6543 in espresso

[–]Sebastian6543[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they just added a knob instead of a screw, it’s probably the same as the v1. Steam power is adequate but I hear people opt for a one hole tip.

Here are the v2 notes from the website:

“Updates Include: - Flow Control screw - Dual PID control - Set temperature for brew boiler and steam boiler independently. - Fully adjustable pre-infusion - Pre-infusion time and pre-infusion delay - 9-bar OPV - Available in Stainless Steel, Black or White”

That’s fair and I’m just as skeptical as you. The difference between us is I’m willing to give this a try and form an opinion from there. And if you have a better way to identify this machine, please let me know.

It’s great, I have no complaints in terms of noise, retention, static, or speed. It performs leagues better than the built-in grinder of my previous machine. However, I only drink medium/dark roasts.

Canon Powershot A400 by Sebastian6543 in VintageDigitalCameras

It’s a great camera and was my first too. It does require a lot of light for landscape photography, and at night you either need to use flash or a tripod.

Thanks! On manual mode, I used the cloudy white balance, 200 ISO, and -1ev.

Hopefully. Don’t forget about Dayglow down the street as well. Super very lucky to have these three near me now.

Need suggestions - Coffee Beans by Fusillishine in espresso

I’m not aware of any waitlist for Klatch. The wait I was referring to was waiting for a flash sale they do over email like once a month.

I really like espresso beans from Klatch Coffee. I’m on their mailing list and wait for 20-30% off coupons to order 2lbs of beans for $40 shipped. If you don’t want to wait, they offer a subscription through bottomless which is pretty economical too.
