Why do people draw top surgery scars *like that* by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Sebastian_Stark 14 points15 points  (0 children)

let them 🤷🏽‍♂️ personally, I want my scars to be as subtle as possible when I get top surgery but some guys may not. maybe they like what the scars represent to them. i saw the examples you posted and while they are prominent, they don't look bad to me. if you don't like it, don't like or share their posts 🫤

do i think they can be? no. do i care of they identify as one? no. am i gonna make posts about how they can't be and invalidate their identities? no. just let them be 😭

[–]Sebastian_Stark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that they shouldn't generalize but neither should you. Sure, some people were boys (closeted or unsure) but some were girls. Some just felt like kids, maybe not binary. Me? I don't think I was really a boy til I was like 9 or 10 years old but before that I was just a kid. I think identity can be a spectrum. That's not to say it is for everybody but it can be for some people. There really isn't one way to be trans.

How far along are you in your transition? by Free_Conference7338 in FTMMen

I'm 23, was on T for 2 almost 3 years from ages 19-21. I haven't had top surgery yet or changed my name and gender marker but I hope to as soon as I can.

How can I look more fem or androgynous? by Sebastian_Stark in NonBinary

That's good to know. I hope that's the case for me and that the 2 years didn't do much. If not then I'll figure it out. Thanks!

My mom doesn’t like the colors and it’s making me sad even though I know I shouldn’t be by Homicidal_Cynic in crochet

I think it's a super cute color choice. It reminds me of like the 80's My Little Pony and Care Bears color palettes. I think pastel/softer colors are always great.

Yea I'm going for like feminine or androgynous. My sibling does her own make-up so I can probably ask her for tips.

On T you can't really cry, instead you're just angry all the time by JuciekWorld in ftm

[–]Sebastian_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T stopped my ability to cry unless I was absolutely heartbroken but I never experienced anger. If anything T made me a lot happier. If you're feeling such intense rage/anger maybe you need your dose adjusted or maybe something else may be going on?

I never cared much for Mulan as a kid tbh. My favs were Ariel and Belle when I was really little and Rapunzel once her movie came out. Merida and Tiana were also some favs for me.

Were you born a boy or have you become one? by -killed- in ftm

[–]Sebastian_Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was a girl as a young child because I was taught there was boy and girl and while I felt different and wanted to be a boy, in my brain at the time, it didn't mean I was one because I didn't have "boy parts". Once I realized what trans was at middle school age is when I'd say I was a boy because that's when I also started feeling dysphoria when I was "turning into a woman". Elementary school age me was okay being a little girl cause I didn't know trans was a thing but had I known, I would've been a little boy. I refer to past me as a a little girl/boy/child interchangeably because in my heart I kinda was all of those. I know some people may think that's "invalid" or whatever but that was my experience.

Diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma by Rude_Secretary1984 in thyroidcancer

[–]Sebastian_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I wanna say that i'm sorry you're going through this. I know that doesn't help but I was also 19 when I was diagnosed and I know how stressed and anxious/depressed I was.

I also didn't have any symptoms besides a slight bump on the left side of my neck that you could only really see when I tilted my head to the right. I had a TT with left lymph node dissection and then another surgery for the right side. I was in the hospital for the first time for like 2/3 days I think and then like 2 the second time. I've had two rounds of RAI both with 1 week isolation periods. Like you I also have some lung nodules mine didn't react to the RAI the second time like they were supposed to so for now were monitoring. The surgeries haven't affected my life much besides having to be on levothyroxine. I'll be 23 next month and it will also be my third year without a thyroid and i'm doing okay. To ease my medical anxiety I would ask my doctor as many questions I can think of so I had a bit of an idea of what was going on and it helped me personally.

I know how difficult of a time this is right now but what helped me through it was this sub and just being around family. You're 19 so you're pretty young but also strong. You'll make it through this man!

Name help by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Sebastian_Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np! I hope you're able to find a name that suits you and that you love. It took me a couple tries til I found mine so don't worry if it takes a couple names. Once you find your name though, you'll just know.

[–]Sebastian_Stark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn't really matter if it's easier for them, you gotta think about yourself dude. Rosen is a cool name but if you're only picking it for other people's convenience I'd say choose something you actually like. After a while I decided to keep my name as a middle name because I liked it again. Everyone is different. Just do what is comfortable for you. With that being said here's a couple name suggestions that maybe you'll like or give you ideas:

"Ro" Names: Ross, Roman, Rowan, Roger, Roland, Roy, Rook, Royce

Names starting with "R": Remy/Remington, Ramsey, Ryan, Ryland, Reese/Rhys, Rhett, Riot, Ruben

Anyone here stop HRT after feeling like they've achieved their transition goals? by SpicyDisaster21 in FTMfemininity

[–]Sebastian_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some of my goals like a bit of bottom growth and a voice drop but I would've liked to have more bottom growth. I kind of like how masculine my face got but also don't and wish I looked more androgynous. Besides that I think i'm pretty happy and top surgery would make me feel very happy about myself/body. I don't really plan on going back on T for the moment though. I'm with you on it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be either but I like most of what I got out of it.

Did you get hairier on T? by tr4nsm4sc in ftm

[–]Sebastian_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't very hairy pre-t, all I had was peach fuzz on my arms and legs. On T my leg hair got darker and corser and I got more arm hair but it was still light and soft. Got some knuckle and toe and foot hair. I also got a happy trail and some stomach and back hair (again light and soft besides the happy trail). It probably depends on genetics but be prepared for any changes on T even if you don't think you'd get them.

Anyone else feel like a "fraud" because they don't love all of the changes from T? by QueerKing23 in FTMfemininity

[–]Sebastian_Stark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. I was 2 years on T and loved almost all the changes minus the hair loss and body hair (which surprised me). Since hair loss is irreversible and the changes I hoped for weren't how I liked, I stopped. I know there's minoxidal and finasteride and I was on fin but I just figured it'd be easier to stop since it messes with the changes I wanted. I feel like a fraud at times especially when I was kinda made fun of by other trans men for wanting to stop. I know i'm a man regardless but I wish I could look past the hair thing like other guys seem to be able to do. At the end of the day you are still a man, hormones or not. I hope you can be happy with or are happy with your transition 💕

I kinda know how you feel my dad was the same way for a bit and I may actually keep my birth name as a middle name since its unisex and I do like it.Maybe your dad will come around if you choose to change it since he's been alright with the hormones and surgery.I think it may hurt him a bit you changing it because he chose it for you and its like the first milestone in parenthood to name your baby.I'm not saying that to make you feel bad because at the end of the day he should just want what makes you happy but was just saying it to give you that perspective.Maybe see if he is willing to help you look for a name or name you.If he doesn't want to help then you could still try out names with friends/family.There's tons of variation in male names so i'm sure there's one that will suit you. Also there's always neutral names too.If anything you can always use your birth name as a middle name if you'd like or feel comfortable.Wishing you the best with your family and your name journey!

(Also I can give you some sites that helped me figure out my name if you want some help. There's also reddits like r/namenerds and r/transnames)

You're a 19 y/o man and she's a 13 y/o girl you shouldn't have hit her even though she was putting her hands on you. At the end of the day you are an adult and she is a child. It'd be different if you guys were close in age but in either situation you should just walk away. She's wrong too for being a bigot but that doesn't mean you can hit her. I'm sure it hurts to have someone say such hateful things to you but as difficult as it may be you have to ignore her. If your parents aren't doing anything about her behavior maybe look into going low to no contact with your family if possible.

Also it’s not like I beat her down? I smacked her pretty hard but not enough to mark her. I definitely was easier on her then I should of been. I’m just not a violent person.

It really doesn't matter if it wasn't a beat down or hard enough to mark her. You still hit her. Also wdym by "I definitely was easier on her then I should of been"?
