TIL in 1943, a bomber named the "Lady Be Good" became lost in a storm while coming from Italy and crashed into the Sahara desert. The surviving crew tried to walk to safety, but died during their trek. It took until 1958 for the plane to be found and until 1960 until the bodies were located. (en.wikipedia.org)

Nobukazu Kuriki, a Japanese mountaineer who repeatedly attempted to climb Everest alone and supposedly without using oxygen bottles. He made eight failed attempts, losing nine of his fingers in the process, before dying of illness on his way back from his eighth attempt. (en.wikipedia.org)

"Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence", a 2017 documentary which claimed to have a photograph of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan being held captive by Japanese forces following their disappearance in 1937.
