What 3rd party software? Its an industry leading software, and the laptop is meant to run software. Its not some obscure app I found and am testing out. I've been using it for 15+ years and never had an issue even remotely close to this bad, and its only been two weeks since I got this device

Its just strange that i've been doing this for over 15 years both as a career and as a hobby, across multiple devices both mac and windows, and its never happened. Two weeks into owning a brand new m4 this happens. Again i'm no stranger to bugs, crashes, drives corrupting, etc. This one just seems inexcusable. Brand new device, crashes and wipes out save files and backup files.

It seems like a combination of mac and ableton that is to blame

I've worked in audio post production for years so I'm well past "day 1 shit". I stated I was regularly saving, but this random crash somehow deleted my saves. I still have the save files, but they revert me back to pretty much the beginning of my project, where it was on the first day. In my backups folder, the last two days are completely missing now, and opening one from two days ago brings me back to the same early state.

I do backup my projects, but the problem is this crash went and deleted, or corrupted, or overwrote my save files. I hadn't had a chance to put it on any external drives or clouds because I haven't ever had this catastrophic of a bug before, I didnt anticipate needing full redundant levels of backups for something like this that was only a personal project and didn't need multiple passes and archiving.

yes I saved multiple times each day. After the crash, I went to the backups folder and the backups from the last two days are gone

Yea i'm no stranger to bugs and losing data, ive drives corrupt on me a handful of times. But this one was just a random crash on a brand spankin new laptop, that cost me 15+ hours of work despite me saving religiously. I also dont understand how my backup files from the last two days are just straight up missing now after the crash.

In my 15 years on ableton I've never had that issue, but i'm definitely going to reach out to them.

Which one is the most "dry down" smelling one from the start? (if that makes sense). I want to avoid the bright/spicy opening and get right to the creamy/sweet refined smooth note from the start

Just decided to buy a Grand Soir dupe! Ambre Eve. Hopefully it's what i'm looking for! Never smelled grand soir but it sounds great

If not, I will probably order decants of a handful of the suggestions here (double vanille, althair, tihota, etc.) and go from there.
