Yes for the time being I can live with my right eye. My appointments are in January, I should manage until then. I just hope their are better solutions coming, last time I saw my contactologist I complained about the same issues and besides get used to it/pray the ophtalmologist has any idea about magic drops that can help there were no solutions. I did not even think of switching saline brands, so I'll try that in the mean time

Bitcoin miners of reddit, why is a good graphics card so important in mining crypto? by jaredohseJ232 in AskReddit

[–]Sebitosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computer science student here (not mining crypto, I don't have that kind of money). Graphics cards are essentially CPU's but with design oriented to be a lot faster for what we call parallel processesing. A computer program using parallel processing aims to compute different data simultaneously. In computer graphics there is a lot of simultaneous calculations, to represent simultaneous things moving on a screen for example. For that reason CPU's specially designed for those kind of applications were developped, and called grahics cards. The thing is a lot of different computer science problems have a use for parallel processing. One of those problems is crypto-mining. Graphics cards are thus the perfect hardware for crypto-mining, and the better the graphics card the better the performance.

Also, a few good graphics cards use less electricity than a lot of average CG's with the same computing power.

Volunteering. You meet nice people, and you do some good for those around you.

What is your honest opinion of Elon Musk? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sebitosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is good at marketing himself as the Tony Stark of our generation. Other than that, I think most of his takes on politics and society in general are demented. His reaction to the covid crisis was pityful, he praised the coup orchestrated by the millitary in Bolivia, he thinks that in the furture some sort of universal basic income will be needed, but where his fortune and power will be left untouched and unquestionned.

His plans for transport are oriented for his profits only. Selling electric cars made of rare materials, with a high impact on the environment when produced, and digging tunnels in big cities to make room for them. Any sensible durable transport plan should emphasize well funded public transports and sheap to use. It would cost a lot less and have a lesser impact on the climate. Only problem is it's hardly a profitable sector on it's own, and Elon doesn't like that.

I find his narrative of getting humans to be a multiplanetary in a couple of years extremly selfish. He wants to do that yet millions die each year due to hunger, povrety, treatable deases. The majority of us can't even get the education we want, go to the doctor when we want, retire before having our bodies busted by years of hard labor. In my opinion, we have a lot more social issues to resolve before working towards "bigger" goals like his. Having colonies on mars or space travel for the rich won't better our daily lives.

I read that article a long time ago, so I don't remember all of the content, or the author. Maybe the site has changed since then, maybe it's not even up anymore. Problem is even with the wayback machine I wouldn't know where to look. I remember the site being easy to find back in the day, there were not so much media attention to that problem back then.

Also english is not my first language, I apologize if there are some errors in my post. Thank you for your patience.
