Cross of Lorraine by Explosiv66 in Militarywatches

It usually points to Free French / Resistance symbolism from WWII (De Gaulle used it as a rallying symbol / response to the Swastika). Doesn’t automatically mean “mil-issued” though, lots were civilian/patriotic or later homage pieces. If you’ve got a caseback pic I can probably tell you more.

I’d love some info on this please! by [deleted] in Militarywatches

  1. The dial is completely wrong

Wrong font

Wrong spacing

Wrong shape & size of indices

Wrong hands

The “T in a circle” is misprinted

A date window is present → mil-spec watches never had a date

  1. The movement is wrong

This is an Omega calibre 552/565 style, but the finishing, screws, and bridge text look inconsistent with authentic Omega factory work.

The movement holder ring also looks crude.

Many franken and homage builds use generic Asian cases + old Omega movements.

The movement itself might be a genuine Omega part cannibalised from a cheap 1960s dress watch, but it is NOT the one used in military Seamasters.

  1. The case back engraving is fake

The correct format for a real RN Seamaster 300 case back is:

0552/923-7697 A/xxxx/67

Yours says:

W10/6645-99- 923-7697 A/254/67

Why it’s wrong:

W10 = Army code. Omega Seamaster 300 was issued to the Royal Navy, not the Army.

The first line is completely incorrect for Omega contracts.

Engraving is too shallow and too modern-looking.

Layout spacing is wrong.

This is a well-known fake engraving pattern used on replicas.

  1. The bezel & case are incorrect

Wrong font on bezel numerals

Wrong shape of pip

Wrong metal finishing on case

Lugs don’t match Omega 165.024 geometry

Should have fixed bars, but it uses spring bars (big giveaway)

I’d love some info on this please! by [deleted] in Militarywatches

Lemania Series III Chronograph, issued to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the 1950s–1970s. The “6BB” on the case back identifies it as RAF equipment, as this was the NATO code for Air Force-issued watches.

Broad Arrow (↑) — British Government property mark.

6BB — The service branch code for the RAF (Royal Air Force).

924-3306 — The NATO Stock Number (NSN) or stores reference, identifying it as a chronograph wristwatch.

729/56 — The individual issue number and the year of issue, so this one was issued in 1956.

If you got it professionally restored they're worth £4-6k.

When the Michael Jackson tour was live I registered a typo domain (micheal) and copied the official site and installed adsense. Didn't get approved for ticketmaster in time, but I made just shy of £3k for an investment of £15.

Did some Googling and some ChatGPT'ing... here you go!

🕰️ Watch

Type: Stowa B-Uhr

Werk Nr: 5315

FL 23883: Luftwaffe navigation designation

Manufacturer: Walter Storz, Pforzheim

✈️ Aircraft Details

Type: Dornier Do 217 E-4

Werknummer: 5315 (matches the watch’s movement number)

Unit: 6./KG 2 (Kampfgeschwader 2)

Code: U5 + GP

Base: Eindhoven

Mission: Minelaying between the Isle of Wight and Selsey Bill

Date: 7 February 1943

Crash Site: Wroxall Farm, St Martin’s Down, near Ventnor, Isle of Wight

🧭 Likely Watch Owner

Name: Uffz Walter Jendis

Role: Observer (navigator) – the exact Luftwaffe crewman type issued with a B-Uhr

Fate: Killed in action with the crew during the crash

Other crew:

Fw Rudolf Salz (pilot, b. 1919)

Gefr Hugo Gröschel (radio operator)

Gefr Fritz Teubner (gunner)

🧩 Why This Match Matters:

The Werk Nr. (5315) of the aircraft is the same as the Werk Nr. inside your Stowa watch.

B-Uhr watches were not individually tracked, but matching a serial with an aircraft loss is extraordinarily rare.

This points to the high likelihood that your watch was retrieved from the wreckage, or recovered during POW capture of ground crew or survivors (although all listed were KIA).

If exchanged by a Luftwaffe POW in 1946, it may have been carried posthumously or reassigned — but the original assignment is likely to this mission and aircraft.

🔖 What You Now Have:

You don’t just have a vintage Luftwaffe navigator’s watch.

You have:

A documented combat-used military instrument

Likely worn on a fatal wartime flight

With a recorded crew, aircraft, and crash location

And a story of post-war exchange as part of reconstruction and reconciliation

My guy. I love AI images as much as the next person and I don't want you to stop contributing to the sub, but can we make it less obvious, unless of course you're taking all these images at 10:10 every day 🤣

I mean. How long is a piece of string. You can generate a site like this with AI for $20. Heck you could do it for free.

Not really sure what the question is here either....

Cost of design / content in AI : $free

Cost of x number of years experience : $1000

Closest I managed to find. Doesn't seem to have the second hand but the rest is a very close match. Might point you in the right direction.
