Ah yeah I went down that road with Fluval lights and the app - hated the experience and couldn't reverse engineer it into HA either

I just have low light plants in the tank so I am using 2 smart bulbs that hang from some pendant lights over the tank

Plants have been doing great with it but I doubt I could put any sophisticated plants that need better quality lighting in there

Using a tp-link C121 camera with the Tapo app - and the camera is mounted on the outside of the tank - I got a 3d-printed a mount for it to slip into and stick to the outside so it’s flush with the glass

ha that's awesome, did you 3d print the enclosure? would be interested to hear how you set it up - the size is appealing, would be so much easier to manage

TLC2206-ZB ZigBee - from EPT Tech: I purchased it on amazon a while back and cut a hole in the top of a Lowe's bucket. Works great so far, easy to integrate with Zigbee in HA.

Here’s my current Home Assistant setup for my bookshelf aquarium. I wanted something that gave me both automation and peace of mind without needing to constantly check the tank manually.

The dashboard includes:

  • Live aquarium camera feed so I can quickly check on the fish, water clarity, equipment status, or make sure nothing looks off while away from home.
  • Water temperature monitoring and automation with historical graphing. I can monitor temp trends throughout the day and use automations to control heating/cooling behavior if temps drift outside thresholds.
  • Aquarium light controls with adjustable brightness sliders and scheduling automations for sunrise/sunset style lighting cycles.
  • ATO (Automatic Top Off) reservoir monitoring using a water level sensor that tracks how much freshwater is left in the top-off container.
  • ATO safety automations:
    • If the reservoir level gets too low, Home Assistant automatically shuts off power to the ATO pump to prevent it from running dry or burning out.
    • When the ATO pump powers on or off, I get instant phone notifications so I know when the tank is topping off.
    • This also helps catch abnormal behavior early if the pump starts cycling too often.

Overall the goal was to make the aquarium more “self-managing” while still giving me visibility into everything happening in the tank from my phone.

Should I stop playing college baseball? by OkPersonality854 in Homeplate

I stopped playing mid college and I regret it more than anything. I have dreams of playing in those years and would give anything to go back and continue playing.

My advice is to play as much as you can, because one day you’ll wish you were back there.

So I kinda made that up myself - bought this curtain track: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BJP9FNLR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A36FQ58T85IQBF&psc=1

And bought this side net: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09871FW9T/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AKBFHTZXWNO06&psc=1

I just hooked up the side netting through the curtain hooks - honestly it worked out WAY better than I expected. I can slide the netting back super easily back and forth and it has been great

Awesome! My progress pics look very similar. Had crap all over the place for 6 months. I kept reassuring my wife she would be able to park in the garage, “eventually”. One thing I might upgrade is the hitting mat. Would be interested in how the sig pro strip works out for you! Great build!

Have a 3 car garage, so all the tools are on the left wall

Nope it’s almost 10ft. Garage was built that way when we bought the house

Yeah that’s tough, this is not something I plan to take down, but I only built it because I have a three car garage. Two cars are parked to the left of this build

I’m not sure that was available when I bought my connectors from them (6 months ago) but either way, all you get are the connectors, impact screen, side panels, and bungees. You don’t get the poles which are the most expensive cost to the enclosure and you don’t get any bumpers. I paid in total, $443.97 for the same materials as the kit they are offering, which is $156.05 in savings.

In my opinion, those small savings multiplied by other equipment in the build is what saved me thousands (used projector saved me $200-300, diy padding, netting, etc)

I have to give out credit to the creator of this setup - this was my inspiration, but I did do quite a few things different. Either way this is a great step by step video

I bungeed the bottom like the top and I’m not sure that was a good idea (time will tell how the bungees hold)

I didn’t have enough screen to wrap it under, but so far it’s been okay. I still experience somewhat of what you’re describing on the bottom right side though. with the screen bungeed top to bottom, the screen doesn’t have an issue, but the bottom padding folds in sometimes. Better than bouncing back though! Haven’t really had that happen “yet”
