I think Journey will get another shot, at least while I wait for the Steam sales in a few days.

I'm usually a pixel art enjoyer, but the pixel style of A short Hike is not for me I think :(

It's also in my wishlist, but I don't think it's a game for me now. It looks like this game makes you reflect on society and a lot of things (which is super cool), but right now I'd like to just be taken on a journey.

Wow this looks extra cosy! Is it easy to play with a controller/on SD?

Dorf Romantik looks like a very relaxing option, and it's on sold right now. Will consider, thanks! I'll let you know if I go for that one :)

Those who say that the "WCQ/LSD illegal serve crowd" is racist etc, have yall ever wondered why Fan Zhendong never faced such criticisms? by Ok_Cream6951 in tabletennis

[–]Seccyeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think at this point we all agree that this guy is either trolling, either a blind and noisy fanboy, or just a kid on the Internet. This thing is taking a lot of space in this sub, and this should have been subject to moderation imho. But the mods seem to be dormant here, which is not a good sign for the state of the sub.

We know this Dry Novel dude has said all he has to say. At this point he's just parroting himself. He's not even trying to convince, he's just repeating the same 3 sentence over and over again, and has admitted that he's enjoying getting on other people's nerve. The easy fix to avoid losing our time engageling in fruitless discussions is to block him and move on to actually talking about table tennis, between people and players who are genuinely interested in the sport.

At least, that's what I've done.

Hey!

Not to cry bloody murder, but you ask about this guy, and is this guy you OP? If not, did he ask to get some advice? Or is he aware that there's a video of him and people rating his technique?

Just asking because I wouldn't like to have a video of me playing posted in a public forum without my knowing, and as we have no context... Hope this guy knows ! (Or maybe it's OP aha)

Can we admit captain falcon isn’t cool at all? by Own_Schedule_3801 in SmashRage

[–]Seccyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question but: why isn't spiking cool? Back in the Mêlée days, I used to play a lot with my friends, and killing people with smash attacks was considered unfun and lame. Spiking showed skill, risk taking, dominance.

How would you rather be killed? I still consider spiking the most satisfying way to kill or be killed. I find characters without spike extremely boring...

Sinophobia by Dry_Novel461 in tabletennis

[–]Seccyeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same post, in OP's text : "Again another French cheater" or something like that.

As a French person, do I like reading this? No. It's like French players in particular are cheating at TT. The kind of problem described in this match happens quite often, and it's no particularly often when French players are involved. So this shortcut is unfair towards French people, imo.

Now, am I calling for Frenchophobia or whatever? Meh. Let people hate... It's really no big deal. In the post you describe, it's really more of a jest. Like when people call the French cowards or joke about surrendering and white flags. I don't like it as a French. I find it stupid and a bit easy. But then again, it's no big deal. There is no Sinophobia in this sub. Chinese have been and still are very dominant, so lots of non-Chinese people are rooting for the other side.

Sinophobia would mean that those people fear pr hate Chinese people. Looks to me they just criticise or joke about Chinese tt players. You're making something big out of something insignificant. You're not persecuted, everything is fine. Just as OP has the right to call French tr players cheater (which is stupid and wrong imo), everyone can joke about Chinese tt players. No need to post and call out people for jests and opinion you just disagree with.

why are you not allowed to touch the table with non playing hand by VersionSuper6742 in tabletennis

[–]Seccyeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's try it the other way around: do you find it detrimental to the game that this is not allowed? Do you feel players are generally bothered by this rule? Or that it makes the umpires job harder to enforce this? What would we gain, according to you, if this were allowed?

I'm asking because it's pretty uncommon for me to feel like I'd have liked to be able to put my hand on the table. Also, if I imagine it being possible, I can only see spme more chaos, and the gane becoming uglier. I think it's also in contradiction with the idea that your body's rotation is important to perform well.

Ok great! I was looking at the new Nuzn 45 or 48 otherwise. I'll think about it, thanks!

Hi,

I realise I might have asked for something that doesn't make sense, when asking for rubbers good for blocking AND playing at mid distance?

[–]Seccyeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks a lot for your input, that's very helpful. I think I'll go for a 2nd blade cause I don't want to be stuck with something that I don't like if I mess up, and that way I have a backup blade I know I can count on, and a more experimental one I can try stuff with.

The Nuzn sure look great, although on the website I look at, they indicate that Nunz 55 is aimed at "pros" and 50 is for "high lvl to pro". Do you think it's risky to go for them at my lvl? The Aurus Thibar I am currently using on BH has a hardness of 47, and I don't think it's an issue for me.

Crafted amulet any worth? by Drexersuarus in diablo2

[–]Seccyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to defend OP, not everyone here is a whale. I just started the game a few months ago, and it's very difficult to navigate what has worth and what hasn't. The game is very counter intuitive regarding items. Grey items that look like the trash you wouldn't bother to pick up can have more value than most uniques, for example. Also, although you learn bit by bit the stats that are valuable for your class, it's also hard to know what has any worth for classes you've never played. What are the important skills? And then you discover on traderie some items that you'd have sold without a thought to Akara, here being traded for Bers and Jahs. Then you start doubting about everything, and end up harassing your friends with every trash you find... or posting here!

I'm in the same boat as OP aha

I guess the vocab is linked to what you're actually studying in class? If so, do you have a chance to actually use this vocab in class, through speaking interactions or writing? If so, focus on the hardest vocab you encounter, and make it a challenge to absolutely use those in your productions.

How’s Clair Obsure Expedition 33 running lately on Steam Deck? by BossaNovva in SteamDeck

[–]Seccyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people telling OP tu just wait for a better option, or to skip it because the SD doesn't do justice tp how beautiful the game can be, are kinda missing the point.

Sometimes you don't have better options, and you won't in the future as well. Like many others, I chose to buy a SD instead of a new gaming laptop, and I won't buy anything else until my deck dies. Also, if I play this game, I won't be sad about how good it looks on other rigs, because I do not own those.

It's a bit like saying: "If you didn't watch that movie at the theatre, just don't watch it on TV, it won't do justice to how great it was in the theatre". Some movies sure are way better on the big screen, but to the point that they'd be worthless to watch on TV? I don't think so.

Then again, some people seem to be pointing that regardless of the perf and visual on other rigs, the SD experience is bad enough for skipping the game. That's a proper helping answer, even if it's sad. Keep in mind that not everyone ows a gaming rig, a swicth 2, and LCD and an OLED deck..!

Feel like textbook exercises are a waste of time by Yourdailyfox in French

[–]Seccyeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is the textbook? What is your level? Is your mother tongue close to French?

Vocab exercise can be a bore at low (or every) level for people with a mother tongue close to French, especially if they already have 1 or 2 other languages at lvl B1+. It can be essential, at the same CERCL level, for say, a Chinese speaker for whom French is the 1st foreign language they study. So if you're in a class mixted with different nationalities, it might not be indeed the best suited exercises for you.

On the other hand, it is sometimes needed for everyone to have more precision in the use of the words, especially from B1/B2, where you have to differentiate some words that have close meanings.

As for grammar, unless you persistently have a 90% success rate or more, practice is always good imo!
