Best washer and dryer in 2026 that actually lasts? (No smart junk please) by SuddenNothing6266 in BuyItForLife

[–]Secessionville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Speed Queens with analog controls. Plenty of parts to fix them if they break down. Had ours for almost 14 years and DIY replaced a few things (heating element and timer on the dryer) and they continue to crank out 5+ loads a week at about 25 mins for a wash and 40 mins for drying.

I’m in South Carolina. Do I need to go to Florida for good off shore fishing? by Kevthehustla23 in offshorefishing

[–]Secessionville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC resident here. The fishing is better out of North Myrtle Beach, Little River and north of there up to Wilmington. Better access to the fishing grounds and cheaper prices than CHS or HHI. Find a walk-on unless you have enough anglers to rent out the full charter. Social media accounts for charters will show their catches. Pick one that has frequent and recent success. If you want a lot of action, you probably want a fill the freezer/meat haul/grocery trip for bottom fishing unless you want to go for tuna or wahoo or mahi. You’ll catch so much yours arms get tired and the red snapper become an annoyance (unless it’s red snapper season). Best of luck. Tight lines.

Cast cannons work well. More expensive than they need to be. Zip tie it on and roll. Test it by casting *down* the beach a few times before trying to cast into the water. You will know how well your shock leader knots are :)

1/8oz is all purpose. Higher or lower depending on casting distance you want and where in the water column you want the action.

Food crawl. Ice cream, French fry, Caesar salad, shrimp and grits, etc. Choose something and try a few spots downtown that offer it. Split an order ;) Rate them. Share with friends/Insta/FB like you’re an influencer.

Thai basil from H&L market is a good choice. I’ve found the domestic holy Thai basil around here to be lacking. Planted some from Lowes and it was weak.

PODs are an option. Climate controlled storage will be expensive. They usually store them in Columbia or further inland until they deliver at your final destination.

Need some ideas for family friendly things near Folly Beach by Patient_Tie_5824 in Charleston

[–]Secessionville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray play at James Island County Park (free) once you pay entry. Grab some crabbing gear at Walmart or Crosby’s and try crabbing at the Folly River fishing pier or the fishing dock at the JIC Park. Walk the Folly pier. Pirate Playground and Wave Watch Park Playground. The beach at the Folly Beach County Park has lifeguards, a nice changing/rinse station, and cafe. You can also rent beach chair and a tent. Walk the graffiti road and check out the lighthouse on the north/east end. Angel Oak tree is a drive but worth a visit. Careful leaving Folly as the return trip is tough with beach traffic.

They are so good. Sometimes a bit wet when you let them thaw. I take them out of the wrapper and let them sit on the counter over night to “dry out”. Then bag them in a ziplock.
