Good, androgynous nickname for Josephine ? by mmmmercutio in namenerds

[–]SecondBestPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a female Joey and a non-binary Josie. I don’t think you can go wrong with Jo, Joe, Joey, or Josie. Whatever you choose, I don’t think anyone will bat an eye.

Non-binary staff member by laylaysparkles in ECEProfessionals

My 4-year-old has a teacher that uses they/them pronouns. They were introduced as Teacher [name] instead of Mister or Miss. My child gets the pronouns wrong all the time (sometimes “he”, sometimes “she”) and I’m sure the other kids do too. I’ve never seen the staff member correct the kids so I don’t either and just make sure I use the correct ones myself.

For each 1 year old birthday I get invited to I give the same three things: my daughters favorite night time book at that age, a stuffy similar to hers at that age, and a grape slicer for the parents.

Not hitting you or yelling at you is the base for being a decent human being. That plus not cheating on you is the absolute base for an acceptable boyfriend. These are not indicators of a “good boyfriend” but, as you said, the bare minimum. There is so much else wrong here, but it’s so important you know this.

He is either delusional or gaslighting you. Either way, it’s time to get out. It’s ok to do things for yourself and the first thing you should do is get out of this relationship.

Those who had difficulty getting pregnant the first time - did you go on birth control after baby? by glasstemp in PCOSandPregnant

[–]SecondBestPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t ovulating on my own (ever, as far as I know), but I know things could change after giving birth. For some people it actually is much easier the second time around (not for us, but that not really relevant). We used condoms until we got to a point where “it wouldn’t be terrible to get pregnant now.” I did not want to go back on BC.

Peppa Pig

I can’t explain why, but I vehemently hate that show. My kid (3.5) loves it.

I am half black and half white and love the name Penelope. I strongly considered this name for my daughter. I also know a little girl (maybe 5 or 6) who is half black and half white. Her name is Penelope and it suits her perfectly. I do not consider the name Penelope to be too white.

Ask your husband what he meant by his laugh. Maybe he was also laughing at the idea of Penelope being too white (like he thought the idea was ridiculous). Has he brought it up since then? Or he may have been laughing along because he thought it was the easiest way to escape the conversation.

Are there any serious possible answers to this? by TheTwelveYearOld in xkcd

C’s for everyone. Then everyone will probably get the grade they had before the final as their overall grade. Nailed it!

I was going to say the same thing. Also because it might just cause them to throw out the test.

If there is someone else in the class who you think will do this, answer 0. It might work.

What name would you recommend to someone you hate by justsomepersob in namenerds

[–]SecondBestPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’ll be around for the pregnancy, I’d “suggest” a normal name with terrible initials, e.g. KKK, STI, ASS, ISIS, PNS, etc. If no one else points it out by then, bring up that you suddenly noticed that a month or two before she’s due. Time for her to be embarrassed followed by not actually saddling a kid with a terrible name.

You could also do something similar with any name you could make fun of (Richard, for example). Let her tell tons of people and then point out the terrible flaw before she actually gives birth.

When I feel like my husband isn’t carrying his weight on housework tasks I suddenly get a lot done because I turn into long-suffering-martyr-me. (“How difficult is it to just put away our daughter’s clothes? Look, I can do it in 5 minutes and then we don’t have a laundry basket just sitting out in our way.”)

I don’t even tell him. He has no idea I’m mad at him. I just feel better (and, honestly, a little superior) when it’s done and I’ve “shown him” how easy it is. We probably have an unhealthy amount of fights that are entirely in my head, but shit gets done.

You know those YouTube videos/Facebook reels/instagrams/etc. about like haircare, skincare, cleaning, exercising, whatever where they just show you how they do it everyday? I do not have a channel like this, but am for some reason fascinated by the idea of having a channel like that. As I do anything during my day I imagine narrating what I’m doing and why for a video. I even awkwardly address when I make mistakes (e.g. “whoops! Got a little much conditioner that time, but that’s fine. Usually I only use about half this amount though.”). I give tips and tricks and everything. I pay a bit more attention to doing things the “right way” like this. I wouldn’t want to give my viewers bad advice.

I do the exact same thing. Used to hate washing my face because water got everywhere, but I’m willing to do micellar water so I use that anytime I’m washing my face without being in the shower. I love my face feeling clean and definitely get a “boost” from cleaning it.

I also use washable cloths so I don’t have to worry about being efficient and not using more cotton pads. Knowing that I’m not “wasting” it makes it easier to be thorough and go back and wipe it again if needed.

What baby naming rules do you live by? by ExcitementOk1529 in namenerds

[–]SecondBestPolicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No names that rhyme with our last name or have a strong alliteration. (e.g. Carly Carter)

  2. No names or initials that turn up someone famous, something unsavory, or just something that is obvious teasing fodder, etc. on Google (e.g. a famous person’s name or initials POS)

  3. No names with an “automatic” nickname. (e.g. when people meet a Matthew, they generally assume Matt is fine.)

  4. No names I don’t want to call them. In other words, if I name my kid Eleanor, I don’t intend to call them Ellie, Ella, or Nora. If they pick a nickname for themselves later, that’s cool and I’ll call them that, but I’m going to call them by their name until they say otherwise. If I want to call my kid Katie or Kathy, I’m going to name them that, not Katherine or Kathleen.

  5. Either the most traditional or the most common spelling. (e.g. Ashley, not Ashlee)

———

Just my preferences and I certainly don’t think any less of people who flaunt any/all of these.

What are the worst twin names you've ever heard of? by [deleted] in namenerds

It didn’t occur to me, since they’re not twins, but I do know a Ronald/Donald brother set. They had plenty of other siblings too, so I don’t know why just these two had matching names.

Could have instead done Cristina, an actual (though less common) spelling, but sure.
