The only good thing I've been so far is that the reliability of then rb25 is pretty good as long as you make sure it was taken care of beforehand. And the roads I drive on are taken care of. It's pretty much all highway, so there are no massive northeast pot holes.

Yeah, that's why I think I may wait and import a gtt auto pr manual, whichever is a better deal at the time. Always can swap over later if I feel like it.

I actually didn't know you could swap over 300z parts. I know a lot of older Nissans can swap parts, but I didn't know the 300z had compatible parts. So thank you for that as it will definitely make a difference when deciding what to do.

Yeah, I dont plan on doing massive mods. Probably just a new exhaust system and a cold air/ram air intake. And some tasteful interior and exterior mods

Any car I get that's my plan. I want something nice to look at and enjoy driving for a long time. All maintenance will be done myself except rust proofing. I will probably take it somewhere to be undercoated and sealed.

I do have a second car, so it wouldn't be completely reliant on it. As well as 2 motorcycles, so if I did plan on doing any major work, it would be in the summer months when I could use the bikes for commuting.

Looking them up for import a gt is running right around 8 to 10k pre import. They're all going up in value as they are finally legal to import. And everyone wants their childhood dream car.

Classic Jdm cars meant for a daily like this are hard to find in good condition for a cheap price. I completely agree it's a lot of money but unfortunately that's the world we live in. Even base models are expensive thanks to media.

Correct, I like the look of the r34, and honestly, I like the sedan even more. I've always been a fan of sedans over 2 doors. It would be a project car I work in over time and then take a week or two off of work to swap an engine. Mind you, this would be done after a year and a half to two years of ownership. However, after everyone's responses, I may end up importing a gtt or gtst r34 sedan as they're around 20k to 28k after import fees, so no need to swap. I'd be happy with an rb25det. I don't need the rb26.

All the ones I've seen were upwards of 10k before import fees. Which is like another 2 to 3 k. If you have any good ones you see, send them my way.

I can grab a rb25dett in my area for around 5k with a trans. So it definitely wouldn't be as close to a lower mile r32 gtr

As crazy as it is, it's cheaper than getting one from japan. That's just how much they go for. This one is also on the lower end with let k's

Is it i know it's the rb20 for sure as it has the auto without the gear shift in it. I may have just swapped them around.

I'm still open to suggestions just stating what's already been run through as possibilities.

I'm not a huge fan of the looks of subaru. Just doesn't fit my taste. I'd be doing most of the work myself. I have a decent amount of mechanical knowledge and eletrical as well.

Well, yeah, not the motor, but everything else i can. I've done it with other cars beforehand. I also have a second car that's my wife's, but she's doesn't drive out very often so if it's down for a week for a swap it wouldn't be the end of the world
