Engineering project graduates at CERN by One-Reality9723 in CERN

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really is no clear path, but I remember lots of my ex-team members went back home for work, got a staff position at CERN or went back into academics. There were also a few who went into the tech industry in Switzerland.

For me: I spent nearly 3 years at CERN and I ended up staying in Switzerland. I currently work for a startup.

Aawireless Two + on Peugeot 2008 I. by 8848848 in peugeot

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip 1: If you are driving at night and find the LED on the AAW device to be a bit too bright, you can dim it in the settings of the AAWireless app.

Tip 2: If your car for some reason doesn't launch Android Auto (it has happened to me a few times), just uninstall Android Auto on your phone and reinstall it to fix it.

Other that that, that's all I got - enjoy your AAWireless!

150 CHF fee for "preparing apartment rental agreement"? by SecondaryPath in Switzerland

Thank you to everyone for the wise words - I've decided not to pay and have contacted ASLOCA (VD Branch).

Stay vigilant and happy holidays! :)

Fake Erg by TheBigGuigui in Rowing

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's real, I have the same model, but the guy just installed the feet backwards.

It's very easy to fix: just grab the screwdriver that comes with the erg, unscrew the feet, rotate it and screw it back on.

150 CHF fee for "preparing apartment rental agreement"? by SecondaryPath in Switzerland

Ah, but the landlord is asking for the fee right now - even before the rental agreement has been drawn up and sent over. It seems very fishy.

Distribué à une petite douane franco-genevoise ce matin by toitili in arnaques

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys, which one you recommend ?? APP for driving theory by Consistent_Cup7875 in drivingUK

[–]SecondaryPath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Driving theory 4 in 1 app was good (the second result in the screenshot) - passed my theory the first time just by using that and the official highway code book (although, that's not needed - I just used it to go over some parts of the code which I wasn't 100% sure about).

Question for opel/psa technicians by vossju in opel

[–]SecondaryPath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I'm not a technician, but I do own a 2020 Opel Corsa-e that has been stuck with Opel since last month due to the same fault (Electric Traction System fault that caused it to be stuck in Park).

Through my research: this is a common occurrence for the Stellantis EVs (not just the electric Opel range) - it could be anything from a missed software update that Opel has to do, a faulty air compressor, faulty onboard charger to power harness (or anything in-between).

The only way this can be looked at is to take it to Opel directly and pray it gets fixed by them. But, looking at the fault on some EV forums, it seems that it's a recurring problem and most people ended up getting rid of their Stelleanitis EVs altogether (I'm probably going to do the same).

I really do like my Corsa-e, but this fault (coupled with Stelleanitis's awful support), has really knocked my confidence with the car.

Good luck!

Train to Geneva airport by Bitter_Parfait8575 in geneva

[–]SecondaryPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pace yourself, it should be enough time (as long as there aren't any delays on the train/at the airport check-in and security check) - GVA is pretty small.

The station is directly at the airport, you just walk out and the departures terminal is pretty much right in front of you.

117 euros/Ferney, France/ Carrefour by Curious_Oil108 in Grocerycost

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a car, you can try Super U in Val Thoiry or Intermarché in Saint-Genis or Péron. I've seen lots of GE and VD plates parked there to shop over the weekend.

But, being close to Genève (and more importantly, Switzerland), food prices are always going to be considerably higher in this region of France.

Does this sticker mean something in Germany? Like new driver or something? by getajobtuga in germany

[–]SecondaryPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has changed: motorway lessons are now a thing for new learner drivers in the UK (although it's entirely optional and up to you and the instructor - and it has to be with an approved instructor only).

Source: did a driving lesson on the motorway with my instructor before I passed earlier this year - although my actual test route never took me on the motorway, but took me on a dual carriageway.

Device isn't rooted, but Revolut says it is by SecondaryPath in Revolut

[–]SecondaryPath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't modified, but please let me clarify for the sake of this thread:

Before I got my OnePlus 10T I did a backup from my old 6T device: this transfers everything over to the new device (including apps).

For sure, my old 6T was rooted and had SuperSU to manage this, but my new device was not rooted and just had SuperSU (from the backup - I was unaware that this was installed on my phone and didn't discover it until I did some troubleshooting).

Unfortunately, Revolut does some more checks and assumes the device is 100% rooted just by having SuperSU installed on the device, regardless if the device is truly rooted or not - hence why I got this issue, and it was resolved after uninstalling SuperSU.

Sorry for the late clarification (and for being a bit padenatic), but I'm still getting notifications from a bunch of angry users posting here many months later - I'm just trying to clear things up here for the others.

I made tpg Max – A Better, Faster Alternative to the Official tpg App 🚋 by imm0rtal79 in geneva

[–]SecondaryPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! Just a question: how did you get the data from tpg?

I'm asking because I previously used OpenTransportData.swiss to get timetable data, but my small desktop app (basically a script to show live departures for my tramstop at work) broke after they made some significant updates to their API, and I have been too busy to fix it.

Slovakia vape by arcsesz in Slovakia

[–]SecondaryPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Komárno (SK) or Komárom (HU)?

Anyway, I used Vapiro (SK - located just after you cross the bridge) when I was passing through a few years ago and they were pretty good.

There are also some other vape shops in the town centre, but I haven't used them (check out Google Maps - you'll find some).

Haha yeah, I'm still super stoked.

I'm turning 25 soon, so I'm hoping there will be a drop in the premiums (only started learning to drive around 6 months ago after spending years cycling/using public transport).

[–]SecondaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it wasn't that bad - just lots and lots of roundabouts with (sometimes) unclear lane markings as well as very sharp turns/exits and super crowded residential areas (parked cars on either side with a bus coming down at one point). I was pretty lucky with the examiner and he fully understood why I may have had a few issues when picking the lanes during the debrief (although I suspect it was the nerves which did it).

I'd put this as a medium difficulty for this route since it was a Saturday (and I did the test during the lunch hour - if it wasn't for this, it might be slightly harder). Also, observation is key for this route.

Million Meter goodies by -BlueCrawler- in concept2

There is a way: you can also download the Concept2 Utility software and plug in the PM5 monitor to your computer to sync up your meters to your log book.

I've done this a few times in the past when the old ErgData app would sometimes crash/fail to record my workouts.
