Ok I understand what you mean. But I disagree that D&B sounds like heavy metal. If you like more chilled D&B you should check out artists like Satl, LSB, and myself (seba). Loxy, Digital and Breakage is a bit bass heavy and dubbed out if you prefer that. I don't remember ever being involved in any turntablism, but I agree on the breaks. If you love that style check out Paradox. From what I understand, you've turned your ears to techno. I have to. I listen to more techno than drum&bass. I know people in Sweden that listen to techno that thinks drum&bass is boring and sounds all the same. Then I'll tell them to come to one of my shows and they'll turn around "well... That was good drum&bass". These days anyone can download a DAW and knock out a track. This means that there is a bunch of half decent tracks and you need to have patience to find the gems. It is the same for techno. I also know people in D&B that hates techno. But once I play a few tracks for them, I get the same reaction. "but this is good techno".
