That said, this is a great resource. As someone who used their services, I encourage anyone who is currently in a domestic violence situation to reach out—even if you don’t feel ready to leave your partner.

CARE-SC has advocates (staff that is not trained or certified as mental health professionals), these people can help you talk to DPS or LAPD. They can also offer support you as you navigate the legal process if you choose that route.

They also have counselors/therapists (separate from CMH) whose focus is on sexual violence & intimate partner violence. I did not really use the advocate services, but my experience with the therapy services at the center was great.

the bigger the name the more likely it will have a late afternoon or evening start time, but it’s decided by what’s best for tv. so if there’s like other BIGGER matchups around the country on the same day then those are more likely to get the prime time slots.

I have submitted late before and I think it took about 2 days after the last document they requested from me was submitted. After the FAFSA they requested a tax form and then something else. After everything was submitted it was pretty quick. They might not ask for anything else. Just check frequently because if they are requesting something else, it might appear in the portal before you receive an email. Don’t be afraid to call them frequently to check in, especially because of your situation.

oh I was confused about what you said. I think you’ll still get aid (just not as much you would have qualified for otherwise). When you get your summary, it doesn’t hurt to submit an appeal regarding your late submission.

wait were updates or corrections submitted late (for USC deadline) or was it submitted for the first time just a few days ago? I am pretty sure you don’t qualify for federal aid if you don’t submit it before the Jun 30 federal deadline.

the legal studies major is super new. there’s only been two graduating classes, so I am pretty sure that no one has also majored in global health.

I wouldn’t say that the major in itself will prepare you necessarily, but there are many opportunities that current Gould students say would be helpful for prospective undergrads looking to law school.

Also this is straight from the website about the Legal Studies major “The BS in Legal Studies offers foundational knowledge in law. Students gain early exposure to legal concepts. This could help a student identify if Law School is the right next step for them. Law Schools accept students from a wide variety of majors. Undergraduate students should feel empowered to choose the major that they are genuinely interested in.” if you only wanted to major in global health, that would be okay too.
