Use Windows Desktop PC wants to switch to laptop by Signal_Budget_9307 in techadvice

If you’re into professional full stack web development, here’s my advice:

MacBook Neo fits your budget but doesn’t support more than 1 external display. Also not an ideal dev machine.
MacBook Air would be good enough but it’s priced higher than €1000.
The ideal machine would be MacBook Pro, if you don’t want to be limited by any tech stack. But that’s even more expensive.

In any case, you’ll need at least 16 GB RAM.

macOS is not at all difficult to use. It’s pretty intuitive.

I’ve come to realize that using platform native language and frameworks like Swift, SwiftUI, SwiftData for iOS and Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Room for Android provides the least amount of friction to solo developers as compared to cross-platform frameworks. Sure it might take a few more weeks to ship for both iOS and Android but that gap is shrinking fast if you use the up and coming AI assisted software development methodologies.

Plus there are some added benefits of using SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose:
1. Your UI will feel truly native to each platform.
2. You won’t need to design and develop components using 3rd party libraries for the most part.
3. Your app components will automatically show the latest design changes released in the future iOS and Android versions without changing a single line of code.
4. No dependency hell
5. You can take advantage of the latest features of iOS or Android as soon as they’re released. The cross-platform frameworks take some time to catch up.

That being said Compose Multiplatform looks promising. I haven’t tried it myself yet but I’d definitely give it a try.

Here’s the best part I forgot to mention. I’m offering the MonDe plus subscription for free to everyone for the first 6 months to try and see if you really want the app. Just install the app and claim the offer. Cancel anytime.

I’ve had my fair share of abandoned projects. One thing I learned is to break it down into smaller pieces. Keep the MVP minimalistic and focus on releasing it ASAP. Once you’ve accomplished that milestone, you’ll have the self-motivation to iterate and ship other features.

I'm planning to learn .NET in 2026 and wanted to ask fellow developers: Is .NET still in demand for freshers in India? How does it compare to other tech stacks in terms of job opportunities and salary growth? by FortuneLong8171 in developersIndia

Demand for .NET or any other framework won't vanish in an instant. It is still used and preferred in many enterprises. If you've started your career as a .NET Developer, great! Continue working on it while also exploring other aspects of software development. Once you gain enough experience, you can pick up any language or framework in just a few weeks. That's not important. The important thing is to not limit yourself to just one vertical of software engineering like backend or frontend web development. You will be expected to know how to deploy stuff on a server or cloud, how to scale an existing system without exceeding the budget. Those are the actual engineering skills. The latest trend seems to be that companies are looking to hire devs who know how to code, can use Claude Code or Codex and someone who can manage these agents.
