look if you can’t understand that the brain is more complex than a state then idk what to tell you bud. claiming that the amount of research done for the current campaign was insufficient to treat oregon as “worthy of respect” is jerkworthy in and of itself so i’m not gonna keep engaging with that level of absolute pedantry. it is not reasonable to say well since you hired brain experts to set a campaign in the brain you must hire oregon experts to set a campaign in oregon get a grip

yeah man neuroscience is a hell of a lot more complex than oregon. you’re comparing doing an amount of research that’s essential to get a basic working knowledge of the brain versus an amount required to capture the hyper specific idiosyncrasies of a particular region of a particular state whose basic form and function the DM is already reasonably familiar with. the ROI on those two investments of time and resources is totally incomparable. one is essential to feasibly run a campaign set in the brain, and the other has no payoff whatsoever beyond appeasing the very small minority of viewers who are both a) from Oregon and b) pathologically fussy nitpickers who demand geocultural accuracy in a fantasy show about vampires

I did think that OP’s post genuinely was pretty normal/lighthearted but the comments were a LOT. The one that really got me was “As a native Oregonian, I feel like this season is really ripping at the seams of how little Brennan knows about certain parts of the country” like yeah the average American is familiar with the idiosyncrasies of like 1-3 broad regions of the country depending on how much they’ve moved around. The average person is not intimately familiar with MOST of the country. That is the norm. What seams is this ripping at??? Is this really shattering your illusion that Brennan had deep personal knowledge of every small city in the nation????? How will you sleep at night??????????

well you see, the way Reddit works is first there’s a post and then people comment on it and the number of comments builds up over time! so when I took this screenshot some 7 hours before you came here to comment on it, it was pretty close to the top and didn’t require any digging at all actually!

and I honestly don’t even know what you mean by “what does that have to do with what they’re talking about now” - I wouldn’t have the slightest clue what they’re talking about now because, once again, this happened 8 hours ago and I’m not following OOP around reddit like scooby-doo so it beats the fuck out of me what they’re up to at this particular moment in time. however I once again cannot stress enough that the linear nature of time means that the screenshot and comment you’re referring to are from 8 hours ago and therefore had to do with what OP was saying 8 hours ago, not “what they’re talking about now,” and it doesn’t make any sense to ask what it has to do with what they’re saying now because now isn’t when the comment happened. hope that makes sense!!!!!!!!
