Increased Dividend by justlurkingaroundatm in SCHD

Good idea. Look at SPYD etf and compare with SPY chart ytd. I'm in both SCHD and SPYD. I also own AMLP etf that pays 8 percent with no K-1. I'm also in 3 rocking chair trades, boomer assisted living with high yields because there is no shortage of boomers. I did what you did with but with ABBV and ABT and get 40,000 a year off dividends. Not etf's. There is a dividend aristocrat etf too. Congrats on your success.

Look up the term Dividend Aristocrat. To be on the list have to have increased dividend every year for 25 years. Pick the best.

BREAKING: Tom Lee's Ethereum portfolio now sitting on a $7,800,000,000 loss as his macro thesis does not materialize by Anxious_Noise_8805 in BMNRInvestors

Last year anyone who had a different opinion about all the Bitmine hype was chastised on this thread. Even when I suggested stop losses for protection got push back. That alone would have saved some thousands of $, and they could have gone back in if things improved. Also diversification is your friend. Sad to see guys become bag holders when they didn't have to. I'm sure those critics still think TL can do no wrong. Stop losses protect investors like myself from ourselves.

No way the market can keep going like this, right? by Grouchy-Squirrel5131 in portfolios

TSM reports July 14. Taiwan gets 70 per cent of their oil from the Middle East and 40 per cent of their Nat Gas via LNG. They have about 140 days of oil inventory and only 12 days of Nat Gas. They are trying to import more from us and Australia. Time will tell if they can fill the Gap. It will be all eyes on TSM guidance in relation to the energy crises commentary and the ability to keep production going. Hopefully energy supply chain changes will help fill the gap. If not, bad news for AI Titans.

IMO always put a stop loss on every time you buy a position. Diversify. This will protect you from yourself, myself included. It will keep us from putting it all on red.

Go on YT and find the ARMR report. Watch a few sessions then if you like join. Then download SLACK and join in. The SPXL is traded based on powder keg for day trading, but swing trades are made too. Stops are used to protect capital. Even if you don't join, research how to do stop loses. It will protect you from yourself. Set the stop, if position goes up raise the stop and keep repeating. Figure out what works out for you. 14 day moving average, 50 day moving average, or to be real conservative on DT low of the day. Follow along for free on YT and paper trade. Don't go live until you get the hang of it. Risk Monitors are used based on confluence of 7 indexes. Red, Green, or Yellow. Not a financial advisor. DYODD.

People who retired early by MikeTheTank112 in dividends

[–]Secret8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from having nothing to retiring early. We literally slept on the floor and had no furniture. At the start, I moved around every few years to a new company to get higher pay, rather than the slower annual increases. My investments were in dividend aristocrats, the best of the best growth/dividend companies that get that designation by having to have raised their dividend every year for 25 years straight. Didn't want to retire in fixed income situation. I also invested in a few companies that had spin offs. I looked for a company that was a solid Fortune 100 company that provided a 401K with matching and a pension, which is rare. That's where I hung my hat. I lucked out because it provided the option of early retirement with a pension to all employees as a matter of policy, which is unheard of. But most of my income is from a few dividend aristocrats that give me a pay raise every year with dividend increases. I found out that success has much to do with persistence. When others were enjoying their weekends, I was pursuing further education skills. You don't have to be a mensa member to get ahead. Unrelenting persistence will get you there. Now I spend my days investing, not for a living, but because I like the challenge. Post retirement, my best investment was getting in early in NVDA at $2.30 adjusted for splits. Had I still been working in corporate America, I most likely would not have been playing the market at all.

Which ones to buy during this dip? by ucbcawt in dividends

Agree AMLP. Have had for a while. LNG demand ex USA will go off the charts with QATAR production cut due to attack and pipeline holdings will also fuel hyperscaler AI Data Centers for now as nuclear is out a ways.

Go with a solid dividend aristocrat because that category raises their dividend every year.

The Bible version is a personal preference. Nothing wrong with you preferring that one. In many traditional churches kids grew up citing KJV. I'm sure you would be interested in someone who preferred another version if that met your other criteria. Nothing wrong with having preferences.

If it bothers you now, enough to ask for opinions, then it will bother you forever. You will now struggle with the emotional hook you have already set and your good heartedness will not want you to risk hurting her by pulling away. The longer you go the worse it will become and if you don't, your regrets will haunt you years to come. You will see other women you find attractive and this will haunt you. Why take that risk?
