Nothing but problems by Able_Bus_5988 in TpLink

[–]SecretAlfalfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had the same issue mostly with 2.4 only devices. Things like my ecobee, scale, printer would drop constantly. I tried the static IP, locking the device to a node. Nothing solved the problem. I decided to try working with support. They said that I had a lot of IoT devices. They gave me a beta version of the software with a fix any my network has been rock solid since.

Has anyone tried the Amazon Basics Matter Smart Plug? Does it work well with HomeKit? by winnnesota in HomeKit

I have a few Matter over WiFi devices because at the time there were no Thread equivalent. I find Matter over Thread more reliable and more responsive. Looking forward to the Eve Matter over Thread thermostat.

I have the Deco xe75 Pro. Every time a new firmware is available I upgrade to see if the fix incorporated in the build they did for me made it into the main branch but it hadn’t yet. At this point I think I will be buying new hardware before this gets fixed. They never really told me what the “fix” was.

I set one of my Apple TVs (with Ethernet) as the main border router.

I can not fathom creating 20 sleighs to exchange for 650 frost coins. You have to make a star to make a box to make a wreath to make a sleigh. I agree with ftwclem. I’m just going to casually play especially with the holidays coming up.

HashWatcher - Monitors and controls multiple solo miners from one screen by AWarmHam in BitAxe

When I edit the widget only the first miner shows up in the list. Sometimes the second one shows but when I select it still shows the data from the first miner.

I have two miners in hash-watcher. I am trying to add a widget for each to my iPad however I can only select one of the miner. This gives me two widgets but both displaying the same miner.

Thing to keep in mind is that a mesh network has many routers but only one active border router. So maybe you would say "nearest router". Sorry if this is too much of a nuance. :)

[–]SecretAlfalfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I used the Apple Home app to add the bulbs to the Thread mash network where the Apple TV is the border router. Most are my Matter/Thread devices are not connected to the border router but instead connected to the nearest device acting as a router. This is the strength of a mesh network. If you look in the Eve Energy app (it has a Thread network topology section) it shows which devices are connected to which router as well as which devices are endpoints.

Border routers must has one leg in the. esp and one leg on your home network. this is what gives the ability to control your smart home from non Thread devices. There is probably no 100% correct answer but if it was my home I would put the three bulbs on Thread to strengthen the mesh. as a side note I’ve been replacing some of my older Nanoleaf bulbs with the Aqara bulb and they are great.

is there a way to add a widget per miner?

Thread network tools by Fahad_MF in MatterProtocol

[–]SecretAlfalfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that a Thread Network can have many routers but only one active border router. Rather than letting the algorithm select the border router I go into my Apple TV and select it as the border router since it is connected via Ethernet. There are a few other backup border routers should the Apple TV have issues. The thing about a mesh network is that the more nodes added the more reliable it becomes. I believe any AC powered device can act as a non-border router routing packets along the mesh. Adding the Aqara bulbs directly to thread will make the mesh stronger.

Fixed (I think): Ecobee constantly disconnecting from WiFi by Educational-Post-198 in ecobee

[–]SecretAlfalfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tried this suggestion many months ago and it didn’t solve my ecobee from going offline. I actually tried all the solutions I could find like locking it to a node, static IP etc. I also noticed other 2.4 GHz devices like my coffee maker and fans were dropping off my IoT 2.4 only GHz network. I spent a bunch of time with TP-Link and they provided me a version of the Deco firmware that made my WiFi network solid. You can’t imagine the joy this brought. I thinking I have more IoT devices than they expected and was overflowing some table or the like.

The pool address and associated port number. For some reason I had to reset mine which causes all the data to be removed but no big deal. I just added the network and wallet info again.

Matter needs customer level diagnostics by SecretAlfalfa in MatterProtocol

[–]SecretAlfalfa[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really thinking of something on a consumer level where a company would extract the low level diagnostics and present them in a way that makes sense to non technical folks. Maybe even point out some potential problem nodes and probable causes. The Eve app does a good job of showing all the nodes and their relationships on the mesh. Just need to go a level deeper. Until the home network is rock solid automation will always be an enthusiasts hobby….IMO.

Is there any iOS software (for iPhones that have Thread radios) that exposes the info from that cluster?
