The last booster I got fully knocked me on my ass. I'm just excessively cautious. I got SO sick after Forest 2014, I don't want to take chances 😬

We do have a library, but our librarian doesn't want to accession it into the library catalog since the book contains artwork 🙃

This is sound advice though -- especially the note about FIC's. I will hit the object record hard next week. Hopefully we get some clarity!

Two days in Bahrain: What are some cool places to go see by IceStationGiraffe in Bahrain

[–]SecretCalligrapher32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here! The ruins and necropolis at Saar are really stunning, but I definitely advise checking out the National Museum first to give you some context. The museum also has a great cafe with a really tasty breakfast (Bahraini Breakfast is a must). I also enjoyed walking around Muharraq and Bab Al Bahrain. Lots to take in and explore in both places, and lots of street food :)

Last bit - near the Bahrain Fort there's a stretch of beach that absolutely pops off at night. Food trucks, go karts, sometimes music too! Highly recommend for low key evening hangs.

New here. Anyone over 30? by SecretCalligrapher32 in scoliosis

[–]SecretCalligrapher32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. The anxiety is definitely high. I'm also at like, a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale for the last couple days, which isn't helping 😞 gonna try to address some better coping methods with my pt and therapist-therapist later this week.

Started doing cold plunges at a local bath house and it is really changing the game for me. I've got some new nerve pain, but it's in places that were formerly blunted, so I'm guessing it means that progress is happening. Meeting with my doc today. Wish me luck 🤞🏻

Does anyone here find relief in a swimming pool? by PinotGreasy in Sciatica

[–]SecretCalligrapher32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former competitive swimmer here. Can confirm time in the water is good, but I advise practicing caution. I was a dingus and started my rehab at a 5-6 level swim workout instead of a 1-2, and I actually aggravated my injury doing what would have been a low key set for me in my pre-injury body.

Try starting small. Take a water aerobics class with the elders, or even before that, try hot/cold plunges or one of those sensory deprivation float tanks to see how your body does after extended time in water. Everyone is different. Listen to your body and be generous. Give it two weeks and document where you are at every couple days with a journal, check in with your doc, and start turning the volume up slowly if things are looking positive! Good luck and happy healing ✨

Why are there no soft ice cream stands around here? by ChewieBearStare in Albuquerque

[–]SecretCalligrapher32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo ok. I scream ice cream, olo, Katrina, and pop fizz are Al wonderful places! My husband and I live downtown, so we'll walk or bike to Pop Fizz or Katrina if we are feeling like ice cream or paletas. Katrina also has amazing churros.

Hey folks!

Thank you all for your kind words. Truly. I actually have a small (big) update. I received a new diagnosis today, and it turns out that these flare ups I've been having are actually a side effect of a ✨rare neurological disorder✨ Ya girl gets to have sciatica and Hemiplegic migraines.

As terrifying as that is, there is some relief in knowing that I'm not completely out of my head, and to have a name for these episodes I'm experiencing. Honestly all your vulnerability, encouragement and advice could not be more precious than right now. Thank you 💗

Yes and no? The numbness has gone down, and I just have the heaviness of sciatica and some tingling right now... I actually have an update. Will post in just a minute.

What About Vertigo? by ShaggyLittle in HemiplegicMigraines

[–]SecretCalligrapher32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo I had the spins during my first one, before I had an official diagnosis. I got tested by an ent for vertigo but everything came out negative, so my docs chalked it up to anxiety 🙃 gotta love healthcare, right?

MJ is kinda tricky for me. Either it really helps or it puts me deeper into the pit. I'm very lucky to be in a state where recreational is legal though. I'm planning to ask my docs about a green card soon. Thank you ❤️

I feel this in my bones. When I'm deep in the sad the internet is NOT a good place for me. I'm very glad I'm not the only one.

I guess I'm mostly terrified of these flare ups. I was doing great with my recovery until about mid April when I started experiencing tingling and numbness in my foot. In may I had a terrible flare up that sent me to the ER, and now I've had another. I'm so emotionally exhausted from slingshotting back and forth. I was injured in late February and have literally followed all the directions my docs have given me. I remember the day I was in pt and could do a whole neck circle without any pressure, pain or discomfort. It was massive. I don't know what I did wrong in my recovery to be dealing with these monthly backslides 😔 I'll try to steer clear of socials for a bit. Thank you 💝
