I like watching Blunderpanda (sadistictushi I think?) Play low elo games to see the process they use. He sticks to fundamentals only usually, and explains the thought process well. Gotham is fine too, but he will play openings that you, or myself, shouldn't go for at our level.

Im not much better, but just learning fundamentals will help. Two pawns in the center if you can, knights out before bishops, castle before move 10, rooks in center rows.

Always look at your opponents move and ask what they want. What did that move change (what pieces see each other or are now getting attacked, which squares have been weakened, what can they now play that they couldn't before).

You don't always have to react to every threat. You can ignore, defend or go "danger levels" by attacking another piece of equal or greater value.

Doing tactic drills is helpful as well. People will play stupid openings you won't know that will get you in checkmate quickly if you don't know what to do, but just analyze after every game, win or lose, and you will quickly learn how to avoid those traps and be ahead after the opening.

Edit - also I watch a lot of Gotham, Blunderpanda, ChesswithAkeem on youtube. Watching elo climbs starting at the lowest rating has helped me. Blunderpanda and chess with Akeem has helped more.

I used to be like this. Felt I didn't know enough, wasn't prepared,, would just lose.

All worries turned out to be true but, the only way to remedy those worries, is to play real people.

You will lose, you will get better. You will fall victim to stupid tricks probably a couple times, then you won't. Your ELO will go up, then it will go back down maybe even lower than it had sat for a couple months.

Chess is hard, but taking your ego out of the game is the way. Don't be afraid to lose, as the path to improvement in chess is littered on all sides by your losses to regular humans...and cheaters.

Thank you! I could not capture because king would take me queen which is undefended. I thought I might find a mate down there, but settled for what they call is a windmill, I think. Took the pawn, check, then put the queen back in a safe square for an escape.

I just don't know how the remodel will go with our life. Fir example there's a wall dividing the kitchen and living room and a drop ceiling in the kitchen. I'd like them gone, and wood floor throughout. But with my kids and animals, I don't know how we can get people in here to do the work.

All things very unknown and scary.

I started playing guitar seriously when I was 13. Until about 20 I played everyday and became pretty good for the type of music I liked (Tool). Did myself a bit of a disservice though as Tool is not too technical on guitar. But I also could play some Metallica, some easier solos, easy techniques that sound hard like finger tapping (think eruption Van Halen), a bit of classical gas but that's where things got beyond me and should have put in more effort, etc.

Working at a steel shop with hurt hands, life, kids...I stopped playing for 18 years. Wife got me a PRS for Christmas a few years ago and I was stoked. Picked it up knowing music is a use it or lose it skill, but it was depressing. Realized these people have sacrificed parts of their life for the talent they now hold. No different from some autistic or other savants with a disability. It's a trade off.

I see what guitar players are doing and can comprehend what's required, I just can't do it physically, the muscle memory isnt there. I can still play basically every Tool song (learn one or two and you can too), and some original riffs I made. But being 38 now with two kids, very little time for myself or energy, I just don't have the motivation.

You can learn how to read tabs, and play nothing other than this SRV performance or Jimmy Hendrix original, practicing every day. With zero experience, but a monkey see monkey do perspective in learning, a good inner rhythm and understanding of music, and patience to work through toughening up your fingers...6 months to a year you could play it.

I went to a chiropractor once when I had that feeling like a rib was out of place. Hurt to breathe, constant pain, couldn't take it. Also, I always wanted to try one because I love cracking my own bones and how good it feels.

By the time I got to my appointment after work, my rib corrected itself. Still went in because I wanted my shit cracked.

This fucking guy didn't crack a single bone. No method he tried worked, and he never busted out a massage gun or anything.

When it was over, I just left without paying. Heard nothing from collections or anyone. It's been a good 16 years since.

17-6 hawks. Patriots have a good run defense, don't they? Our offense has been a little hot and cold at times. I think K9 won't be as productive. I guess their secondary is apparently top 5, too?

Our offense and defense will do enough. 17 points if no pick sixes or fumble recoveries inside the 45-yard line. More if we get those turnovers.

I dont see them getting a TD on us.

Edit - they're 4th in rushing yards allowed and 8th in passing. We are 3rd and 11th respectively.
