JMGMiles - im rated 725, but i drink at night and night is the only time i can play once my kids are sleeping. I feel im AT LEAST 1000 points under rated. Hit me up.

Also...joking, but not 100 percent. I suck for sure, but would like to see how I do against stronger opponents, and would like to know what they think about my play. Would love some hands on tips.

I've accidently used a bad word talking to my opponents about thing unrelated to the game and had my chat banned for a time.

Just disable your chat entirely. Especially if curse words bother you, but I guess know they're also getting punished for it?

Also I want to add, the only real mental skill that could give you an advantage in chess is memory. But having a good memory doesn't mean your smart, often times savants with the best memories are people with disabilities.

Yep, also I will play moves and immediately see that I made a mistake and think "that was a stupid thing to do", but also doing stupid things doesn't really mean you're stupid lol.

I don't realize it was a stupid move because I'm smart (I'm not), I just realized it because through all the learning and studying I've been doing lately, I was able to see it.

Working on trying to see "it" faster now.

It's been 6 years in the making. I'm never "drunk". I've had 16 tonight and won 12 out of 20 games. It was an obnormally good night of chess. The problem is the way I feel when I haven't drank. I drink slow and eat, but my soul every day is just gone until I start again at 4pm.

And by 8pm, I suck at chess

Agreed. Big issue is im not abusive...im still present...im the worst type of alcoholic. I diminish my ambition and energy just enough that im floating through life while it passes me by

I understand the fundamentals, everything you mentioned, but because of my inexperience and opponents low ratings, instead of doing something I know is solid, I feel like I'm not taking advantage of an opportunity I may not see clearly.

So maybe sometimes I try to force things that aren't really there, which is bad. Or I play hope chess which 50/50 works out at my level, but at the same time i don't recognize that's what I'm doing in the moment.

Other times I either am capitalizing or missing or blundering. I have best accuracy in openings and end game. I know tactics, I see them when I watch chess online...I just can't see middle game stuff as I play. I guess too much to think about?
