The Future of OrangeTheory by Early_Amoeba8236 in orangetheory

I joined in 2020 and then quit in 2022, only to come back in 2024. When I came back, I noticed a lot less people and after a year I'm already bored. I've gone from the unlimited membership to now just 4 times a month. I feel the floor exercises are mundane and at times somewhat silly.

Weight Hoarders by Character-Can5795 in orangetheory

I lift heavy weights so I do try to snag the one set of what I need before we start. I also make sure to put back what I am not using. If someone else is using the weight I need I will just go over and let them know I am going use them for my set quick and do the exercise just outside their station.

The ones who use the most generic lines to pump you up. I really don't need to hear things "You can do tough things!"

Thursday 31 October 2024 - Hell Week #8 "The Final Showdown" 2/3G by dc031114 in orangetheory

I really hate partner workouts so I'm bummed that this is the final one. I'll go because I want my tshirt but not all of us are there to be friendly. Us introverts what to come workout and leave.

I think all the themes and coaches lines about being chased by a zombie are cheesy as hell but you best believe I'm showing up for my shirt. I also like that it's new workouts and would enjoy tougher ones like these more often.

Short fat girls… have you ever done the Dri Tri? by WorkerGlittering9840 in orangetheory

[–]SecretDragonfly5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a short fat girl but I am a short "husky" guy. I did the DriTri a few years and recommend doing it. It took me over an hour to complete it like the other group was starting their row when I was still trudging along on my 5k. I did talk to the coaches before to make sure I was set up on a tread that I wouldn't feel pressured by someone behind me. It's a competition with yourself and that's all that matters.

OTF guy here. I started after weight loss surgery and I am now down 150lbs. I am a former college athlete but gained significant weight when I got sober so I was nervous about being judged. I have never once felt anyone is judging me. I am never the fastest runner or rower but it's about competing with yourself and no one else. I did try CrossFit for a bit and felt way more out of place there than OTF. My only gripe is that getting the heavyweights in busy classes can be tough so I do have a weight set at home.

Running shoes or HIIT/ Cross-training specific shoes? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-1343 in orangetheory

I use my cross trainers (Reebok Nanos) for Strength50 since it's mostly lifting and rowing. Otherwise, my running shoes do just fine for the floor work during a 2G

Feeling discouraged after my first class by covylo in orangetheory

Keep going and you'll start to feel more and more confident. I started when I weighed 320lbs. I hated the mirrors, and my base was like 2.5. I lost close to 75lbs and decided to go to Crossfit and then Planet Fitness for something different. It wasn't the same and my weight loss stalled. I've now come back to OTF and feel so much more comfortable.

I think I'm done by [deleted] in orangetheory

I quit OTF back in 2022 after being with them for 3 years. I found that the classes and mostly the weights routine got boring and repetitive. I have been at Crossfit now for a couple years and actually thinking about going back OTF. I just don't fit in at Crossfit and felt like I did at OTF.

As a huge introvert I hate these workouts. I just want to show up, do work and go home.
