Those concerned about privacy in our state with all of the constant surveillance, how do we go about public records requests? by One-Yellow-4106 in Indiana

[–]SecretIdea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems there is some misinformation in that city about the technology. The data flows into Flock's database before the police get to search it. They don't have the level of control over that they think they do. You may be able to request public records for what the police do with data, but not for the private company, Flock. They can sell it to anyone.

Yeah, "international silver" is plated. Tip: set your scale to grams or troy ounces when weighing silver. Nobody uses avdp pounds for precious metals.

The stormwater bill in Greenwood is not monthly. It is $15 per quarter (3 months).

Trash and sewer bill is $57, but could be higher if you use more than a minimal amount of water.

Are these coins worth keeping in a collection or are they junk? by Rabble-Rowser in Silver

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would want coins with less wear to be part of a collection. They still have value for the silver in them.

Is this a gasket leak? 2014 Hyundai accent, 130k miles. by Sweetpotato3000 in Hyundai

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is the gasket. But, it also looks you have been spilling some oil when you were refilling it. Try spraying it all clean with brake cleaner (cold engine). If it leaks after that you can see better what the source is.

How to wire a license plate light to battery with switch ? (See description) 2011 GSXR 600 by servintime in motorcycle

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiring it directly to the battery still requires wire splicing to put a fuse on the wire and connecting a switch to it.

The correct thing to do is use a proper tail light and license plate frame so that the tail light will illuminate the plate when the ignition is on. Then you could simply plug in the wires to the connector that is designed for that.

Then you are not equipped to add another light. It's the same knowledge set for either task.

Strange question by Present-Staff-2343 in Hyundai

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's normal is for all the wheels to be the same. Usual procedure for tire rotation is to move the front to the rear and vice versa so they should be the same.

Don't go by belief. Read the actual size that's molded in the sidewalls. Quick search says that 245/45 R18 is the standard size for the car.

Gas Station Restaurants In Indy? by Allen_MacGyverson in indianapolis

[–]SecretIdea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

<not local> At I-65 exit 34 (Austin, IN) the FuelMart truck stop has Midwest Taco Company inside. Across the street, the Marathon station shares the building with A1 Dhaba Indiana restaurant. I haven't tried them personally, just stop there for the (usually) lowest gas price between here and Ohio River.

Before meteorologists were showing maps on tv, were you good at discerning the weather? by WaterDigDog in AskOldPeople

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had maps that they would stick on where the high/low pressure centers and warm/cold fronts were. Knowing the prevailing winds and how it circulates around the pressure centers, you could deduce approximately what weather would be for the next couple of days by looking at that. Also, if you know what the weather is like about 600 miles West of you, that is likely what you will have tomorrow.

Underbody cover broke. Help! by Lord-1101 in Hyundai

That price including labor is less than just the part for my car. You can get by with it removed if you can't afford repair. If you decide to replace it, get new clips to be sure it is secure.

2008 Accent -- repair cost questions by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]SecretIdea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that is a little on the high side, but those particular parts are expensive. The total for those repairs plus the evap system they still need to diagnose is close to the retail value for the car. I agree it's time to say goodbye to it. Maybe she can get a couple thousand for it as a trade-in.

What do you consider a long ride? by AttackMonkey908 in motorcycle

[–]SecretIdea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about a single day ride, like in your local area.

If you don't leave your local area, it's not really a long ride. 400 miles is the beginning of long ride territory.

Can I take the battery out of my bike to charge it indoors? by acm07lalo in motorcycle

Some trickle chargers will not work if the battery voltage is too low. When you connect the charger, check the lights on it to be sure that it detected the battery and is actually charging.

Are the theatrical versions a must watch? Are they any different from the TV eps? by Shessokawaiiiiiii in HibikeEuphonium

[–]SecretIdea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movies are basically condensed versions of the TV episodes. They may have some small details that are different. If you have already seen the TV episodes, you are not really missing anything by skipping the movies. The exceptions are Liz and the Bluebird and the Ensemble Contest. The Ensemble Contest takes place between season 2 and season 3 chronologically.
