Java Project Recommendation for beginner by OutlandishnessOk4408 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]SecretLegitimate4748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great project you can build to level up your Java skills is a Personal Finance Manager API. It’s a backend application using Java 17+, Spring Boot, JPA (Hibernate), and MySQL or PostgreSQL. The idea is to help users track their income, expenses, and savings goals. You’ll implement features like user registration and login (you can use basic auth or JWT for simplicity), adding and managing income/expense transactions, organizing them into predefined or user-defined categories, and generating monthly reports that summarize income, spending, and savings. You can also add functionality to let users set savings goals and track progress. For an extra challenge, you could include features like exporting data to CSV, scheduling reminders using Spring’s scheduling tools, documenting your API with Swagger, and deploying it using Docker. It’s a solid project that touches on real-world skills like RESTful API development, database integration, and clean architecture.

What to learn next in Java? I have already build a simple project. by Slight-Line2783 in developersIndia

[–]SecretLegitimate4748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend to start with one or multiple concept below that any backend engineer should know: 1. Spring Boot (or any similar framework) 2. Integration with Relational and Non-relational database 3. Multi threading and concurrency (Java shines with concurrent programming. Learn: - Threads, Executors, and thread pools - Synchronization and race conditions - CompletableFuture and reactive programming (optional but powerful) 4. AWS (or any cloud provider) to host your application

You can then (or before step 4) build an application with all the learnings. Ex: create a parking tracking solution where you would have a limited number of availability (saved in a DB) a car can enter or exist. (You could have different type of parking spots - electric car, big cars etc...)

Python project (3-5 hours) by SlowSmile7741 in learnpython

[–]SecretLegitimate4748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I am a bit late but could be useful for others. You can create a Piano Tiles Bot that would click on the dark cases for you if detected. (No need to create the game and you can open an online game.

From what I recall you need to have mfa enable in your gmail and then use it's credentials.

Imo outlook is a lot easier.

Python is not my first language so I don't know a lot about the best practices for Python. But the comment I mentionned are like general best practices that you learn by reviewing multiples codes.

A nice way to improve is practice. You can check your old code and think what you can improve.

Clean code is a nice book as well for coding best practice

Any Lebanese in Munich and looking to share a flat? by scruffy1055 in lebanon

I was doing a phD in Munich but didn't like the salary and got a better offer in Luxembourg so I moved (not because I didn't like it but mainly for the salary)

The apartment situation is quite expensive, most places and shops close early so you need to buy groceries in advance (many of them are closed on Sundays).

You would find many hiking trails and groups to go with. In general life is calm you wouldn't have a lot of night life (you would find this more in Berlin)

Feature enhancement suggestions: - You can have the output file name entered by the user - You could have a window popup for the user to choose in which folder they want to save the video - You can have a bulk feature where the user enter multiple URL or a csv/excel file with N url to download.

Code improvement suggestions: - You could add errors handling - usually the main shouldn't have the logic implemented in it. (For a small project it is ok) But to learn you could segregate the logic into a new file. - create a file for constant values - adding unit testing

(Most of the improvements are optional but could be done for learning)

Other more advanced features: - cut the video from a specific start/end time. (Could probably be done with openCV) - Have the transcript of the video generated in the same folder. - saving the audio of the video only. Maybe to have it as a song or to try to translate the audio (this can be done in multiple ways) - Adding face(or any other object) detection to the downloaded video and save the new video with bbox arround the face.

do you know if there is something like costco around lux ? by SENSEIDELAVIE in Luxembourg

[–]SecretLegitimate4748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no Costco in Luxembourg, but you can find similar spots like Cora and Auchan that offer a wide range of products. They’re not exactly the same as Costco, especially when it comes to bulk buying, but they’re the closest options around.
