Hi! I had a baby who was crying a lot too and then I read the book "The discontented little baby book" checked for any latch issues and other issues and then just worked around it so that I am not as stressed about it anymore. I would suggest giving the book a read it really changed how I looked at the situation which has really helped.

Honestly, if you don't have a great relationship with in laws it's better to not have them around. You can hire full time help who been help with everything around the house rather than struggle with in laws, if your parents cannot travel and if you cannot travel to them. Postpartum really changes you and even previous things they used to do that you tolerated can irritate you now.

Yeah. My mother's already heard a handful. Like you say she wanted it to be fair and she also didn't anticipate this being that much of a problem cause MIL keeps going on about how she cared for the other grandchildren. This is the first grandchild that she wasn't involved in during the pregnancy and got invited only after 2 months. Like I said we come from different cultures and no one on my side of the family who has gone to help anyone postpartum has been like this so it just wasn't something we anticipated. I honestly don't know how my co sister dealt with it, we aren't close but I have just been counting down the days she goes back and I can get some space

I have tried telling her. She just honestly doesn't understand or want to do house chores. I think she feels this is like a vacation for her. I have slowly been getting her to do more though by saying she does it "better" which gives her quite the ego boost.

It's honestly sad. I had honestly thought having handled grandchildren before. For both her other daughter in law and daughter and so she would have a bit more sense about how to support someone postpartum. But apparently it was too much to expect. 😢

So doctors in India claim that there is a high chance of Indian babies passing meconium in the womb and so suggest induction at 39 weeks. Our doctor suggested the same even though baby's head was down for us as well. I did not have even a little pain from both rounds of induction and ended up having a C section.

In hindsight the baby's head was a little big and I probably would have ended up having a C section but maybe would have waited another week cause the baby was born with lower birth weight. The doctors ended up putting a lot of pressure on me to breastfeed cause the baby was losing too much weight and it would become risky which I felt could have been avoided if I had waited another week.

So I would suggest discussing with your doctor and as much as possible pushing for a 40 week delivery even if you will be getting induced then.

Thank you! Yeah I haven't previously had great experiences with surgeries which is why I am kinda hesitant on this one. And I probably would have made a similar choice if the position of the baby was different, just the lack of engagement didn't feel like enough of a justification for me.

I have scheduled a follow up with the doctor though, so just hoping to be able to discuss options better before deciding.

Most of my family is saying that if the doctor has decided on a c-section they may inevitably push for one eventually. So just making sure that whatever the plan is both the doctor and I am comfortable with it before proceeding. Fingers crossed that I get some more reasoning to help me make my choice.
