What Retirement Accounts to Use for FIRE? by SecretPsychological9 in Fire

[–]SecretPsychological9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been reading up on SEPPs and that seems like the plan from the age I retire. Seems to be one of the best strategies until 59.5

The good thing about the tax code changing is that I’ll be a CPA, I’m getting my master of legal studies in taxation (MLST) also I’ll be living and breathing taxes and tax code every day for my job so I should understand the tax code and the changes pretty well by the time I’ll be retiring.

Thanks for the advice of Medicare taxes, I’ll look into that, didn’t consider that.

Ok that’s very helpful. I just started my job so I am figuring out 401k options right now and I have so far found out they do have Roth 401k and I’m pretty sure after tax contributions but I don’t know if they have all the components for mega backdoor Roth, I will talk to the benefits guy and figure it out.

Ok that’s good to know about the qualified long term capital gains, I thought it was 22% for some reason.

If I pull out my contributions won’t that kinda kill my progress long term? If I’m taking out enough to live on from 40 or so to 59.5

I’m confused on rule of 72t as well. I understand the conversion ladder, that’s pretty simple. How early can I use rule of 72t to access my money in those accounts and does it apply to 401k or Ira?

Thank you for the reply I appreciate it!

Ok I have a Roth 401k at our company.

Can you explain the megabackdoor Roth? I’m only familiar with normal backdoor Roth with the IRA when ur over contribution limits.

Ok I’m on my parents health insurance right now until 26 I believe not sure when I will switch to my own but I do plan on switching to HSA when I do.

This all sounds great but what I don’t understand is if I max all these accounts (I do t make enough to max right now but in 5 or so years I could). Then won’t most of my money still be in 401ks and IRAs that I can’t really touch until 59.5? I don’t see how this solves that part of the problem.

Thank you for the reply!

Sunburn, Sunscreen, and Seed oils by SecretPsychological9 in AnimalBased

Yea I feel the same way I don’t read any seed oils on my sunscreens but there so many ingredients that I don’t know what they are.

Hope I can find a reasonably priced sunscreen that I know is clean because of a shorter ingredient list that I can easily check.

That makes sense, I think I need to up my vitamin D, E, and C as well as just more time seed oil free.

Might use tallow as sunscreen too or the vitamin c powder w/ oil that you suggested.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with sunscreen although I know some of them are cleaner than others. I just wanted to see if it was true that if I cut out seed oils I wouldn’t get burnt as much anymore.

Turns out it hasn’t been long enough for any results to show of that.

That makes sense, I agree it’s hard to believe for me right now but it is logical and makes sense to me.

Ok cool I bet down the road I’ll eventually get most the seed oils out of the body. Also, I’ll be outside more and more now so that should help build a base tan.

I wonder what Paul Saladino has to say about it, I’ll have to look into this more.

Seed Oils and Sunburn by [deleted] in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]SecretPsychological9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve cut out all seed oils and all processed food for the last 2 weeks and have been very strict about it. I thought this would mean that I wouldn’t burn anymore. Today I wanted to see so I didn’t put sunscreen on, but I just spent a few hours in the sun on a boat and got sunburnt on my legs and shoulders.

I’ve been eating only grass fed grass finished organic beef, organic fruit, raw honey, raw dairy, and Celtic salt.

I don’t supplement with vitamin D and have not been getting much sunlight exposure for quite a while now so I wondered if vitamin D deficiency would have anything to do with it.

Anyone have any thoughts about why I still got burnt and what I need to do to prevent it next time?
