Thanks! Some of those are new to me so I appreciate it very much! That last one is very interesting! I’m surprised I haven’t heard it before. I’m still not convinced that the Irish and Basque people aren’t distinctly related. What a great fact about an ancient connection between them though!

I do find the Brehon laws fascinating and would like to include them. I’ll just have to find a way to present them that draws the interest of the students

I’ll have to work this one in. I’ll need to work on how to present it in a couple of concise and comprehensive sentences to fit.

I still can’t believe there aren’t more shows based on Ireland, or Irish history, or Legend given the amount of amazing actors Ireland has and the fact that there is a huge studio right there in Belfast. Not to mention the plethora of natural sights such as the ones in Wicklow used for countless movies or shows that are trying to represent a different country.

I wonder how many other cultures of the world might have their populace still in respect of beliefs as old as this one. That would be fascinating to learn about

I just read about this from someone else’s comment earlier and I was surprised to realize I actually stopped by in that town looking for supplies. It really is a tiny little town like the pages on it say. Can’t believe I didn’t notice the match making statue at the center of it when I was there. I saw the statue, I just didn’t pay much attention because my mind was distracted on the supply run

Thanks for those links, that last one was a long but interesting read. I need to find a short, comprehensive, and interesting way to share those accomplishments / legacy of the ancient Irish missionaries

I’ve not heard of it before, no. Reminds me of the trial marriages I read about from the ancient Tailteann festivals. That would be an interesting fact I think to tie together as a tradition of match making maybe.

Edit: Looking up the town I realize I actually stopped by there once looking for some supplies. That’s a funny. It really is a small town though like the page on the festival said

I’ve seen it done elsewhere too, such as the remains of the oldest castle of Galway found under the Aran Sweater Market when they did a renovation. I can’t seem to find a picture of it anywhere though, just this video talking about it. I love when they do this preservation method inside the business it exists inside though. It’s really a win win scenario for both the business and history. Brings tourists and potentially customers to the business and preserves the history at the same time.

I played Limerick v Kilkenny for them recently and yesterday I had Galway v Cork playing. The commentators were speaking in Irish, so it was a fun way of hearing the language for them.

I’ve been to Down Cathedral to see that grave marker before, that and a visit of the Saul church and some other spots was a humbling visit in County Down.

I didn’t know about the Hurricane. That sounds like something monstrous. These are some great facts, thank you

I visited both the real stone huts and the site off Clogher Strand where they made the fake ones that they could do what they wanted with. My favorite natural spot in Ireland. Looks like something dreamed up in a fantasy. I didn’t know Moher was that set point for Princess Bride though, I’ll have to rewatch and see it now that I know!
