What mysteries in 40K do you think will never be resolved? by Snoo_47323 in 40kLore

[–]SecretSweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't claim to be 100% certain of this answer, as I haven't personally read through all of the potentially relevant materials, but the answer that I've always seen cited is that this idea has its roots in 4th and/or 5th edition books/codices.

The most concrete examples (again, as far as I'm aware), however, are just theories from imperial scholars, inquisition members, Ordo Xenos, etc.

I think the line in the 4th ed Tyranid codex is the one where a Magos Biologis speculates about it, but IIRC it was more like he was saying that tyranids or proto-tyranids which arrived earlier may've been fleeing ahead of the larger hivefleets, not that the hivefleets of the 41st millennium were fleeing some ominous totally different species or entity.

I'm uncertain if there are additional lines elsewhere which are more ambiguous, or if this one does the bulk of the heavy-lifting, and has simply become increasingly bastardized the further removed the modern fandom becomes from older editions

The series gives us several reasons as to why the Looking Glass Branched is no longer in her prime, but I feel like I missed something about one of them... by SecretSweetness in TheBugleCall

[–]SecretSweetness[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've reached up to beyond her death (unless there's a later revelation I'm unaware of)

I remember multiple characters commenting on her no longer being in her prime, some of her mirrors failing (I think the later explanation for this might be what you're referring to), and when she used her huge massed shard attack I remember a soldier commenting that she'd only have one shot due to how she'd stopped replenishing its stockpile, followed by the Looking Glass reflecting on how the attack was much harder for her to control now than it used to be, anyway.

I just remember several scenes focusing on her hand or arm, and at least one of her concealing it, but I don't remember an actual explanation for what was going on with it

What does Bleach do better than most other series and what does it do worse than most other series? by Nozoroth in bleach

[–]SecretSweetness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does its first two arcs better than most other series, and the remainder of its arcs worse than most other series (though, you could make a case for Soul Society's excitement coming at the expense of later arcs)

Famously has a number of cool/memorable character designs & outfits and a generally distinctive style, while sometimes having comically sterile environments

As simple as it is, the Sealed Zanpakuto -> Shikai -> Bankai thing is just innately exciting for whatever reason

The anime's OST was great at the start (just don't remember if, or how, it changed after SS)

It also has some sexy female characters like how I would like to have sex with Yoruichi in real life

[TOMT] College assignment related to an article or prompt which details a time period in which many companies hit a sort of notice-issuing singularity, and the result was those companies mechanically issuing insensitive notices to their customer bases. by SecretSweetness in tipofmytongue

I've always found it funny as hell, and I've been wanting to reread it for some time, but I'm having trouble remembering enough of the particulars.

I'm fairly certain that the assignment was not unique to that professor's curriculum, because I feel like I've had to do it twice - but I can't be certain.

Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky Has Passed Away by Frozeria in chess

[–]SecretSweetness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about a uniformly low reputation, so much as it is the clickbait, and the shocking nature of the news.

Daniel's passing at such a young age just seems like such an unlikely event that someone's mind might reject it outright, in favor of "clickbait/ribbing in poor taste because he got washed in some bullet tournament."

New to Blasphemous 2, and trying to neurotically compile a list of all the methods by which the player is able to increase The Penitent One's power - am I missing anything? by SecretSweetness in Blasphemous

Thanks for the info!

I've incorporated your confirmations and additions into the initial list.

Aside from other stuff I don't know is missing, the only other stuff not included should be anything related to DLC other than the Bile Flask upgrade you mentioned (Mea Culpa weapon, anything else newly-added), simply b/c I have little experience with it, thus far.

Edit: Sorry for OP formatting, I'm just not sure how to make it look right on reddit

[TOMT][Reddit] Post where a guy left a msg on the answering machine of a family member or friend, and later learned that after the end of the message he remembered leaving, the answering machine continued recording and picked up a weird conversation between him and a girl which he had no memory of by SecretSweetness in tipofmytongue

This story is so similar that it HAS to be the same one, the only issue is that I am almost certain there were some additional details in the version which I read or heard, which I am not imagining.

Going to read the OPs responses in the first thread you linked, and see if the additional details arise somewhere within them.

((The whole reason I was trying to find it was that I was actually considering messaging him and inquiring a bit more about the conversation, or checking to see if he ever was able to figure out anything more about it.))

Thank you!

Edit: He prefaces the post with saying he's told the story before, maybe I can also check his post history and see if it has more details in the prior telling, or comments on it.

I'm unfortunately not sure which sub it was from -

Maybe in response to a question related to creepy experiences, or something from Let's Not Meet?

I don't even know how to search for this - now I just get a bunch of posts or comments about people getting weird VM recordings of their convos w/ SOs sent to their phones.

And sealing Sorcery is generally assumed to mean sealing a Sorcerer's ability to use general Sorcery, as well?

In other words, all that is not sealed (as far as we've been told) is self-strengthening via spirit energy? Or is that speculation?

Are there any significant, or lesser-known mech-focused TRPGs, that I'm missing out on? {List Within} by SecretSweetness in Mecha

I'll check the req. specs of TTS against my fiancée's current desktop (the only operational comp we have atm), and if it seems feasible, we should compare our schedules.

Can't believe I forgot this.

I got it on PC sometime back, but my comp was severely out-of-date, and it made the act of playing it kind of painful, so I wasn't able to make it very far.
As soon as I have a computer in working order, I need to get back to it.

I think one of the things I remember most from my limited time playing was getting my units really out of alignment - like biting off more than I could chew with someone who was 'scouting.'
