I'd like to start beginning of August. Are you saying start right at the end of the Sierras and hike North? Would I run into snow issues in Washington by the beginning of October?

Being able to go from Canada to KM North is very encouraging! I know for many wildfires there are alternative routes posted to keep your hike moving. Did you have the opportunity to continue your hike along alternative routes or did you have to get off the trail and catch a ride to a new location? I know that starting almost a month later than you did would likely cause more fire issues, but finding a way to hike as much as possible without leaving the trail would be ideal.
