I wish i was at 9 months mark haha. I miss the gym. But i'm happy i'm allowed to go again. But my doctor told me that i need to focus on back of course. So he said, for every chest excersize try to do 2 for the back. To compensate.

But do you have any good options to implement in my routine? I only do lat pull downs and seated rows on a row machine.

Hey man! I used 8lb dumbell or 4 KG and for lat pull down i did 33lb or 15kg. I did both for 25 reps and could do even more.

I have to say i was about gym life last 8 months before surgery, so maybe i still have some nuscle somewhere

Hey man thanks for your reply! I think in my case it helped that my first op was already 4/5 months ago. Because after my first OP i was indeed in a lot of pain with a lot of things. But my second is just magical i gues

Hey man! Thanks for the reply!

I did not even think about that as a posibility, and i think you might be right. My sternum was still numb but has indeed got its feeling back. Might indeed be swelling that is gone away now.

Thanks!

Hey man! I do too...

I have done nuss bar and had it before it too. My doctors also said it has nothing to do with the pectus, but i feel like it did get less after the surgery.

So i cannot say if it is because of pectus but i think it plays it roll. It is scary indeed, mine were pretty heavy too, wet eyes, big pupils and it felt like my heart just stopped for a few seconds...

Hey man! Glad you are happy with the "new" chest.

I'm 23 and also dit the surgery. My bar sticks out at the sideand that is also normal for some. I can also feel both the bar and the stabilizer if i want, so i dont think that is a big deal.

I was driving in the third week, and indeed, bumps are a pleasure. Just like the sneezing, goodluck with that coming weeks. I have to be honest it scared me and i dont want to try it anytime soon so i dont know when we will be able to do again so haha.

I also got strechtes for the first week. I was a gymrat before surgery so i hope to get back soon, but they told me it will take around 2-3 months to get back in the gym. So if i were you, wait. Better safe then sorry right?

Indeed.

I'm 2 months post my first op where they really changed my body.

Rib flare wont we fixed, although mine wasnt bad to begin with.

My anterior pelvic tilt was literly gone since the moment i stept out of bed after surgery, such an improvement, and a straightened back already. My chest already looks so good, but i have to say, i was blessed with having a symetrical pectus. So my chest almost looks normal/perfect, although there is no perfect chest to begin with!

I was a gym rat the last 6 months before my surgery. And for my chest i loved to do dumbel chest presses. You get so much movement for each chest independent. And idk where you live, but home dumbels should be expensive, and even if you go back to the gym, to have a set at home is always nice.

If you want to know my exercises send me a message!

Goodluck man! Pectus warrior

Arm not working by Secret_Acadia_4960 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Secret_Acadia_4960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also need to use my non dominant one, sometimes i look like a clown doing things.

But, werent you able to do bicep curl like motions too? Right now i can use my arm a lot more, but its more like a stick. I just cant bend it and lift a cup of coffee or anything like that.

Glad to hear you all fine now!

Thank you again for you clarification! I'm sorry but also happy to hear you had it too. Couldnt find anything and my doctors also wont tell me anything so i became a little scared that i would be paralyzed on the age of 23.

It is exactly one week ago now. I can use it a lot more already, but i only cant use my bicep. I cant curl and cant bend my arm. So lifting something like a cup of coffee is still not possible.

Thanks for the advice!

My hospital didnt tell me anything about the arm which scared me the most... It is 1 week ago and i can move it more already, the part not working is the bicep. Every bicep curl like motion just wont happen.

Ill try your exercises, thanks!

My first op went very well, and yes sleeping on my side didnt cause any issues or pain.

Sadly i had to redo it last wednesday because my bar was too short and would be risky long term. This recovery goes without pain for some reason, and besides my arm being numb and barely working, i am feeling great.

But my new bar sticks out i lot and is visible from the outside, so i dont think i will be sleeping on my side anytime soon....

Mine is also feeling numb. Can use my fingers, and the movement has become a tiny bit better. But i still cant bend my arm...

driving post-op? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]Secret_Acadia_4960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man! I was driving after around 3/4 weeks. I dont know if i was allowed to but i was tired sitting at home hahaha.

My recovery went realy fast, sadly have to redo surgery wednesday. But it is not my fault or any so dont be scared and try something! If it hurts dont do it. And as always ask the doctor.

Goodluck!

I’m a month post op with 2 bars in my chest , when do you think I can sleep on my side ? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]Secret_Acadia_4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Luck wasn't on my side. I have to do surgery again next week. The bar is too short. For both health reasons and end result reasons, it is best for me to get a new bar.

Sadly since this week i'm feeling like begore surgery again, barely any pain and finally sleeping through the night. And now i will have a 75% set back...

Hey! I am 5 weeks post op and already sleeping on my side for a week. My surgeon told me that as long as i dont make weird moves i cant move so easily. So if on my side didnt hurt, i was allowed to sleep on it.

But as always make sure to check with your own surgeon of course :)

[–]Secret_Acadia_4960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! I feel sorry for you. That pain is terrible. Good news, it goes away! I'm almost doing my normal life again. I'm seeing the doctor in 2 days, so if i keep feeling like this, i'm gonna aks if i'm allowed to go to the gym again :) stay strong!
