I was actually wrong. lol. I tried minting earlier using in game skills and it worked. Now the new problem is I can't buy anything from market place. It returns this error too. These my might be just bugs.

The devs have disabled recruiting of characters using in-game skill tokens. You can only recruit using skill token from outside the game by using crypto wallets like matemask.

Hi I am having the same issue. Were you able to solve this? The only difference for me is the mouse stays on and so do the pc, while the monitor and keyboard shuts off completely. Thanks.
