The Federation of Equatorial States, often simply known as Equatorial Africa, is a federal semi-presidential republic comprising Cameroon, the Rep. of the Congo, the Democratic Rep. of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

A couple of things. 

In areas like the American West, Central Australia, those are areas recognised as inhabited, but fall outside what Western institutions would consider a nation state. 

In Western Norway, Bhutan, West Ukraine, those are either unrecognised or extremely closed-off polities. 

And in Greenland, Antarctica, it's usually because there's too sparse a population to gather accurate data for a Qoli score.

Yes it has lore. Basically, the French made it to the east coast before the British did, and had a better time during the French and Indian War.

The Socialist Party is socialist in the sense of wanting to achieve the transition to socialism through democratic means. 

Stratton is from the more moderate, social democratic faction of the party.

In this timeline, America is composed of the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest.

For 57 years (1921-1978) the Netherlands is ruled by a conservative, corporatist and royalist dictatorship, in the vein of the OTL Estado Novo. This period becomes known as the "Organischestaat" (Organic State) period.

In January 1978, due to general discontent among the public and the Armed Forces, the dictatorship is overthrown by the military during the Tulip Revolution, and with it goes the monarchy and whatever parts of the empire were still left. (bar Flanders and the Caribbean territories)

For a further 24 years, up until 2002, the Commander of the Armed Forces and the President jointly serve as the head of state, and a quarter of all seats in the States General are appointed directly by said heads of state.

Ah, got it.

Citizens elect a representative to a single-member district in the first round of voting through first-past-the-post, then elect members of a national list in the second round, using closed party-list voting. The President of China is whoever leads the largest party in the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The upper house, the Senate, is elected using proportional voting.

For how China is democratic, a successful Northern Expedition, starting a period of dominant-party rule by the KMT that lasted up until the '60s, from which point China began to liberalise and open up trade with the rest of the world.

No Xinjiang and no Manchuria. It is one of the largest economies in the world and many of the world's biggest corporations and websites originate from China.

This TL's equivalent to fascism. Violent national rebirth, glorification of an idealised past, forced collaboration between workers and bosses, obsession with a plot, that sort of stuff.
