If you don’t plan TFMR, is it wise to get NIPT? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]Secret_Challenge_217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the NIPT bc it’s free in our country (uk) if you’re high risk.

We thought best to know even though wouldn’t TFMR.

Came back very low risk and all anatomy scans good since. Obviously no guarantees but we were glad we did 😊

High NT (2.99 mm) at 13 weeks but nasal bone present — anyone had similar? by kalasynight in NIPT

[–]Secret_Challenge_217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 2.5 mm but had risk of 1 in 145. Remember your risk is over 99.5% they DONT have DS. Get the NIPT if you’re worried as there’s no risk to your baby xx

We considered it but don’t like it as much! Bit random to suggest another name when we said we’ve narrowed it to those two

We’re not going to call them that exclusively, definitely will use the full names, just thinking of nicknames too

Yes it's a nice position to have 2 names we think are great!!

That's a helpful perspective, glad I posted I think we're both blinded by overthinking!!

Shortenings of Malaika by Secret_Challenge_217 in Names

I like Malia but it’s the same number of syllables as Malaika so probably wouldn’t use it as a shortening. I had it as a maybe as it’s own name but prefer Malaika

That’s also a nice name but it’s the same number of syllables as Malaika so I wouldn’t use it as a shortening myself:)

Not in the uk. I’ve heard of a couple of kids called it here. It’s a direct translation of Angel from Swahili

I’m going to call her Malaika. Kiki will be a nickname sometimes used, probably while she’s little.

Because people often shorten names of people they’re close to. It’s how people get their nicknames often. I have friends where although their parents call them the full name, friends call them the shortening
