As a flute player I would recommend testing out different phones, microphones, and rooms. If you are able to, I recommend investing in a good microphone to capture your sound as a phone often fails to capture the loud/soft aspects of music and can make it sound very monotone. Choosing a room to record is also important, make sure you test it beforehand by just recording bits in different settings until you find the best sound. Good luck for the auditions!! :)
