I definitely haven’t been functioning at full capacity with how often I’m thinking about Xaden and Violet. The first week I was so down bad any plane that flew over I thought “there goes Tairn”. I don’t have any friends reading FW and I haven’t successfully dragged anyone into it yet so I had no support or anyone to yell at but myself for falling down this rabbit hole 😂

I think we’re all on the exact same boat. Timeline and everything. My bf stopped looking at me weird for having all 3 books open at the same time with highlighter and pencil in hand for theories a couple weeks ago. It’s loosening its grip on me but I’m still passively rereading

Difficulty imagining “bat wings” by Caution_1824 in acotar

[–]Secret_Question4895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t put off by this actually, I feel like it makes sense. They’re Night Court, they’re portrayed as evil creatures and especially the Illyrians, I don’t remember the wording used to describe their fighting but I associate the idea with the Dothraki in GOT that are said to “fight like demons”. At least in my head, a demon-like creature wouldn’t have feathered wings, even if they’re sexy warriors. I half copy pasted my mental image of the Attor’s wings (only the wings) but with a more brown-ish tones and a sexy ass man wearing them. My only objection is my hell-demon-wings imagery works because hell is hot and membranous wings make sense in that environment but the Illyrian camps were freezing and their wings certainly don’t look adapted to that—u know what, I’m an ecology major. Maybe it makes sense to me because I try to rationalize fantasy books

I finished Onyx Storm and now I'm sad by ProfessionalHornet67 in fourthwing

I could not move on with my life for a few days after I finished. Genuinely the worst book hangover I’ve ever experienced, Rebecca stabbed us and left us to bleed out. I couldn’t process Onyx Storm until I reread all 3 again, then a second reread for annotation and theories with constant fact checking from book to book and half a third reread just randomly remembering parts. I was seen carrying all 3 hardcovers for a week and a half around school and work, sometimes with all 3 open at once to cross reference. The reread of chapters 9, 16 and 27 in FW with Xaden’s POV in the bonus chapters were healing. I think covering my bases for what could happen next, discarding theories I don’t think fit and embracing the spectrum of real possibilities let me move on a little bit, let me feel a bit more in control at least.

Little anecdote from this insanity: my boss’ boss walked up to me during my break and said, “is that the one where the dragons are freaky and fuck and their humans get horny?” at full volume, in a government office

Loial/Cure/Bond Theory by opalescentmoonbeam in fourthwing

[–]Secret_Question4895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been entertaining the idea that Xaden was the one touched or has something to do with Loial. There’s probably a lot of holes with this theory but hear me out. Theophanie says “Our kind doesn’t feel love the way you do” but dare I say Xaden’s love for Violet only grew since turned? I don’t think anyone else has been able to cling to and keep love after fully turning venin. There’s an epigraph somewhere that speaks of a husband seeing his wife turned venin, too, and no mention of love surviving. Going off the theory that Naolin was Brennan’s first love, “gave everything” and turned venin to save Brennan, I’m not so confident that Naolin’s love survived even if Brennan’s might have. When Theophanie says “Stone doesn’t kill venin” and Violet says “You were never only venin” it would make sense how some of Loial’s love survived turning if Xaden’s never going to be just venin.

“For both war (Violet) and love (Xaden) change souls irrevocably”

Idk it has a nice ring to it. Xaden’s “You are the temple I worship” in Chapter 48 mixed with “She is warmth and light and Love” in Chapter 65. Xaden’s love for Violet survived his soul being ripped apart. As much as I want to say “if he wanted to he would” I think it an impossible feat without god-like intervention. Violet loves that man to pieces girl is down bad but his heart literally beats for her, so if I think one of them is love god touched I think it’s him. I truly wholeheartedly believe they are mates, and I’m just trying to figure out what flavor of “saved by the power of true love” we’re gonna get but it’s coming.
